"Could you just?"

The sun arrived this afternoon!
Albert with his stiff back leg ( the one that was broken four years ago) quickly found a warm spot in which to give himself some heat physiotherapy and I was just photographing him  when a guy and two children turned up in a car from down the lane
I saw the cat basket they retrieved from the boot and thought to myself...."more beaks to feed"
....and of course I was right
Three delicate and rather vociferous juvenile hens have now joined the field population,

Will I am... or is it Fergie?
I have nicknamed them "The black eyed peas"

Did they have a good reason for rehoming their chickens? Oh well, at least they are young. They'll boost your egg layers shortly.

  2. Oh, that's super, more young (egg making) hens!

    Albert looks quite content there!

    Good Sunday, John

  5. You need a sign for the gate saying "Anything beaked, clawed, barking, mewing, clucking, four or two- legged welcome here"
waifs and strays seem to gravitate your way.

That does not look like a delicate hen, it looks like a hen with attitude. Watch your back, especially as she seems to have found a position of advantage..

  11. I had to look up the word 'vociferous.' The definition reminded me a little of a Scottie!

  12. Ever thought of launching a sister blog called "Going Mentally - All Unwanted Creatures Welcome"? There'd soon be a traffic jam on the lane as car after car dumped fresh animals to share your life. I am sure you could secure an EU grant for such an enterprise.

  13. I guess it's a good thing that people know that you will take in the waifs and strays.......

  25. I don't know if you remember the TV show "Beverly Hillbilly's", but the young actress that starred in that comedy was named Ellie Mae and she took in all sorts of animals. I'm only telling you this so you will have an understanding of my nickname here at work, which is ELLIE MAE!!! You being the male equivalent to Ellie, I know you'd be pleased that there are some folks in the US that are suckers just like you and I. Since my given name is Kelly Kay, I thought it quite amusing that my nickname rhythms so nicely with my real name. :)
