so Ronery?

I am having a moment to dry myself off.......
I don't know exactly where is wetter..... INside the cottage or OUTside in the rain?
All I do know, it that I needed to employ the "spirit that won the war" kind of mentality and stop bellyaching and start cleaning and drying.
Apart from the now post industrial looking concrete floor, the kitchen now looks almost human again. A neighbour Arfon, hearing about our misfortune brought around a dehumidifier this morning, and with the help of a few mobile heaters, the place is habitable once again.
Pat B, my unofficial animal helper called around too, with a festive cake (complete with bow) and Carys, who is one of my egg customers also battled the rain to deliver a small Christmas gift.... it is these little tokens of kindness that really lifts the spirits..........Even Mrs "Pen-y-cefn" Jones, who is well into her eighties and who always insists on referring to me as "Mr Gray" sent a generous donation for the Motor Neurone Disease association after she heard about my brother.......

Anyhow I need to go and get changed......I may even make an effort and go and have a bath.....
I need to make sure that I make more of an effort with my personal grooming....
Especially given the fact that the only person I know with worse dress sense and a more unforgiving haircut died today!

  6. Seeing you with a sweeps brush brings back memories of when Tom pulled the rod back down without a brush on the end. He spent all day trying to get the brush back, needless to say he never swept another chimney. lol

For some reason John, you're not showing in my blog reader, if you've noticed a drop in traffic, this could be why.

Just caught up with your catastrophe...poor you, hope you're dry soon,

  20. John,
You had just gotten done cleaning the chimney when that photo was taken, so one would expect you to look a bit dishelved. And, you've got chickens, and not just any old chickens, but also a contigent of baldies and crackhead whores, and geese, and turkeys (and some of those with special needs), and pigs to feed and care for. And dogs. And cat. Then there are the odd dried sparrow in the utensils carrier and rat that makes its way inside.

With responsibilities like those, one must dress in a way to handle those things easily and with panache.

I'm glad you have such helpful neighbours. I am similarly blessed and am very grateful.

I read you blog earlier (when I wasn't logged in) and then I read the news that Kim Jong Il was dead! So no dear John you don't look like KJ IL! You do look a little raggedy though, please tell me you don't clean your own chimney! Happy to read that the kitchen is drying out and that you have such lovely friends to come and help you! And bless the old dear who contributed to your brother's cause!

  24. This morning, as I was selecting today's underpant style, I noticed a book on our bedroom shelves "Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus" and guess who the author is! Yes - JOHN GRAY! No wonder you're able to live a life of leisure on your Welsh country estate with its indoor swimming pool - zooming around in your shiny Berlingo. Could you tell your faithful readership how you came to write your seminal work?

  26. I was just saying the other day that chimney sweeping must be quite a lucrative profession these days what with everyone installing wood burning stoves and opening up their fireplaces.

Mind you, there's even more money in being a power-crazed, autocratic despot.

An entire country might be a bit beyond you at the moment, but perhaps you could practice on Rhyll?

  28. You still look better than comrade Kim (which wouldn't, I admit, be that difficult given his current horizontality).

  29. Oh goodness, there is a striking resemblance... my condolences. Perhaps better days are ahead :^)

  30. You are waaaaay cuter than that dead Dear Leader, who always reminded me of a Korean "Chucky" doll!
