I see no ships ( or f*cking any of the Red Arrows Either) |
Chris got out of the service slightly late, we had a row racing up to the top of the hill and got there just on 12.30pm to find out that a large patch of pine trees were effectively screening the whole of the Rhyl coastline!
Pine Tree view |
Just as the rain started we craned out necks around the branches to enjoy the odd loop the loop....then we gave it all up as a bad job to return home for a cup of tea and for me a sleep before night shift tonight.
Ah a typical British Sunday afternoon out!
That first pic of Chris congers up scenes from 'Wuthering Heights'....was he auditioning for a 'part'?.....or just 'cooling off'?
ReplyDeleteThe eating and the bickering would be typical for us on any day.
ReplyDeleteWell, the day can't have been all that bad. At least you had a good row!
ReplyDeleteAt least it produced a couple of great, moody photos.
ReplyDeleteWe used to sit in the back garden when I was a kid and jump out of our skins as Hawker Hunters, Vulcans and a plethora of cold war jets near took the roof slates off the house as they screamed overhead at about 100ft (would be banned now). The airshow was held a few fields away so no need to buy a ticket.
ReplyDeleteEven then I was a real cheapskate like you two...
What dramatic skies!
ReplyDeleteOH yes! Dramatically gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThe afternoon may have been a blowout, but the pictures are something else entirely!
ReplyDeleteHey, sitting on a hilltop, eating sammiches and having a good row makes for an enjoyable day, airshow or not.
ReplyDeletePlay nicely, boys! :)
ReplyDeleteReally sorry, but I can top that easily.
ReplyDeleteWas sitting at the desk this afternoon, cup of tea, slice of cake and t'internet in front of me, Heard the low rumble of a propeller drive plane, so look out of the window to see the last flying Lancaster bomber flying past towards the M25 and it home at Duxford.
Must have been enroute to another airshow a few weeks ago, Blue, as it (and a Spit) graced the skies above the plots. What a roar.
ReplyDeleteI used to watc the Red Arrows from my back garden when I was a kid. They don't change much.
ReplyDeleteOh well, can't win 'em all as they say. Hope you're both have a good day tomorrow
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when we went to see Simon Le Bon crewing a boat (round the world, or something)....too foggy to see a thing, and I'd set my heart on seeing Simon Le Bon.
ReplyDeleteJane x
Awesome that you had a picnic at least. Sorry the air show was a bust.
ReplyDeleteHope you all have a great week!
But such a spectacular view of the clouds.
ReplyDeleteSame sort of day in Pembrokeshire - indigo clouds and showers just when you think it has cleared. Good photo though.
ReplyDeleteBickering away is fun! And at least you got to spend time together even if the weather was not good.
ReplyDeletewaited in the rain for 2 hours last year overlooking the posh sounding "Bournemouth International" (we still remember it as Hurn Aiport, with a quaint tin shed that was the Arrivals Lounge) for the anticipated Vulcan take off during the local Air Show.
ReplyDeleteDidn't know that its not allowed to take off in the rain...
It's what couples do eh? Sometimes at least.
ReplyDeleteLovely spot for a picnic though.
