Well even hospice nurses need resuscitation training.
And today was the day.
I learned two things this afternoon that I didn’t know previously
- Women fair worse in resus scenarios because their boobs get in the way
- And most modern defibrillators will digitally record sound the last arrest situation they are used in ,
Both interesting facts to know eh?
A nursing sister I knew in Sheffield often recalled the time she fainted outside Cole Brothers in Barker’s Pool. She regained her senses just in time as an over enthusiastic first aider was shouting to a fellow helper
“ Quick Rip her Bra off! “
This story always tickled me greatly and I recounted the story to my colleagues, much to their surprise
I will leave you with some late entries in the wall art exhibition

I think I heard that about women's boobs hampering CPR. Another downside to being of the female persuasion!
ReplyDeleteMore great art work. Your readers are a very cultured bunch, with eclectic taste. I've really enjoyed seeing them all. Thanks everyone! xx
Apparently you place the pads under the armpit and UNDER bra wiring
DeleteLeave it to you to come back from standard resuscitation training with the most interesting trivia! I had no idea modern defibrillators record audio of the last arrest—that is fascinating. And that story about the bra completely killed me.
ReplyDeleteEspecially in nhs clinical areas a debrief may be needed and the resus officer may access the sounds of the arrest working out what was done well etc
DeleteThe things you learn!!!
ReplyDeleteWaddu know?
DeleteThe things you learn when you're paying attention!
ReplyDeleteLove the additional art!
Hugs!
I’m sure there will be more
DeleteThe nursing sister's story made me laugh! And thinking about it, it makes sense that the AED units record sound & data during a resus event.
ReplyDeleteHave truly enjoyed all the share artwork! Thanks to all who participated. 😊
I’m so glad she regained her senses before he lost his.
ReplyDeleteMore lovely artwork, with a special shout-out to that fab corgi!
