Trelawnyd’s Garden Party

The closest Trelawnyd comes to a Lord and Lady of the Manor are Pippa & Tom who live in The Rectory , which the biggest house in the village. They are Trelawnyd Royalty
The Rectory is tucked away next to the Church , and is hidden away from the road by the bungalows of Rhodfa Arthur( Arthur Avenue) It used to possess a tree lined drive with fields on either side in which the Vicar Jenkins kept cows and Auntie Gladys kept sheep.
The old photographs are courtesy of Daphne Jones, Rev Jenkins’ daughter who lived in the village for many years

Anyhow I digress, Pippa and Tom will be hosting an afternoon Tea / Garden party in the Rectory gardens on the 18th. of July, the proceeds of which will go to the TCA and upkeep of the village hall.

Ian ( Village Leader), The Velvet Voiced Linda , her hubby Nick and myself all met up today to risk assess the gardens at 1 pm. They are lovely, even though they could be a risk assessors nightmare and the event should be all rather tasteful I think given the genteel feel about the place.

I will leave you with this delightful video to make you smile on this hot day

  1. What a lovely house. The garden party will be well attended I'm sure. I hope the sun shines for it.
The video made me think of you saying that about your bladder/catheter shenanigans. Although I think that's probably much more polite than what you really said!
Any news on Weaver/Bun, whichever is the errant cat? xx

WHAT!!!! This needs a post. Glad to hear they are both around. We get our blacks in at night. We were outside too long this evening for one of the buggers and he hasn’t come in yet.

The video was a treat, too.
Wishing y'all well in minimizing any risk to life and limb that lurks in the garden. I look forward to garden party pictures in due time, please and thank you.

    Hugs!

We had a garden party a couple of years ago in the grounds of our village’s poshest house. It was very refined and we held a silent auction. THe whole thing was a shed load of work but we raised lots of money for the church.

Sort of a posh raffle. Things are offered and people bid on them. Put all the items on a table and have a page for each item so people can bid and put their name. We auctioned: a piece of art by a local artist, three baskets or wine, a pottery class by a local potter, a guitar lesson from an aging rocker that lives in the village, a drive in an Aston Martin (someone in village has one), a posh cake by a local baker

  7. PBS has been replaying Downton Abbey, a great refresher for your proper garden party. I went to a tea party host by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a Rose Garden in Oxford one time.

  8. It's a lovely manor house. What happened to the rows of trees, ? Order lots of port-a-potties? What else does risk management cover? Parking? High heels ruining the lawn, lowlifes trodding on the perennials?Theft? My ex DH would never allow me to have parties for such reasons, esp the theft. So sad that guests would steal. Is this behind your derelict church or another church in the village?

    1. It’s the rectory of our main church , next to me, the trees were taken down so the bungalows could be built
Toilets are available , I made sure that was clarified , outdoor for the men indoors for the ladies

  9. The garden party sounds lovely and the village manor house and gardens seem perfect for the event.
As for Bun and Weaver, they are going to do their own thing. It is best that you just sit back, let them be and enjoy their shenanigans.
