I went to a friend’s funeral today. She lived in the village.
But as I was driving at the top of St Asaph towards the crematorium, I got gridlocked.
The King and Queen were in town.
They are celebrating Maundy Thursday at the Cathedral.
Luckily I was able to watch the service online then got out and walked up towards the Cathedral just in time to see the King walk across the road to say hello to the crowd.
He’s like his mother not very big.
I came home eventually free of the police’s road closures and noticed some magnificent bunches of grape hyacinth on Ann Hindles’ wall
Bloody lovely

A king and a tea fit for a king!
ReplyDeleteA memorable encounter (almost) and your favorite meal. What a good day, aside from the funeral, of course.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
Wow.....thank you for sharing these pictures! Linda from Alabama
ReplyDeleteIt is gratifying to see that the King is able to get so close to the crowds without needing an army of armed bodyguards.
ReplyDeleteNice scotch egg 😋
The introduction of live streaming funeral services is such a bonus. I "attended" a couple of such during Covid. What a shame you weren't able to shake hands or exchange a word with the king, but at least you got close enough to snap a photo. xx
