🎤🎶 BARA BADA BASTU · Grupo Talía

A spirited rendition of the Swedish heavy rock Euro hit . They give it gusto , my choir !

I’ve been out of circulation for almost a week now
I’m not right still,
A post viral lethargy ?
Who knows.

This morning I resorted to Lego, and I loved it. Something concrete to think about, coordinating brain and hands ( something I never really been very good act)
This morning I made a toucan. Ok I couldn’t fix one wing in place
And ok I fucked up  his open beak
But I was pleased with his disneyish charm

The one thing you realise when you are poorly, is that, like in death, life plods around, you thank you very much. Without a kiss-me-arse or nothing.
Village elder Islwyn cleared my garden rubbish without fanfare, the Facebook complaints about the deforestation of the Gop have continued and the Trelawnyd Community Association met at the Velvet Voiced Linda’s house on Monday to look at resurrecting the youth Club.
The go Green group did more work on the village Wales in Bloom application.
And the male voiced choir can he heard practicing again every Tuesday night.
As the village is surrounded in cold mist and January’s paralysing icy nights

Everything plods along.
With or without you

  1. I think that's a pretty awesome toucan! Is it wearing blue Crocs?

Assembling Lego kits the size of your lovely toucan was a great benefit to me several winters ago. In the throes of a deep depression I found that focusing on the step by step instructions (not always easy to understand) kept my brain from worrying and spiraling. Maybe some hot chicken noodle soup would help aid your recovery from the viral crud. Hope you’re soon better. Hugs

Any news on the ongoing relationship with your German friend? I'm sure I'm not the only one wishing you future happiness with that special someone.

  5. Yes, we are all dispensable, much as we like to think otherwise. Anyway, I'm glad you're (slowly) on the mend. I won't say anything about things taking longer as we age, I'll just say it's obviously a powerful bug! That toucan looks like it'll fit right into your eclectic collection of quirky stuff. Just put it somewhere away from Weaver's attention. She'll demolish it in the blink of an eye, just for pure devilment! xx

  6. I remember distinctly the first time I had that feeling of the world not being affected in the least by me or what I was doing and it was when I was in labor with my first child. Dare I say the agony I was in caused me to realize that women go through this every day all over the world and the rest of us go about our business, not knowing or even really caring?
    It was profound.
You will join the world again soon, I bet. And it will be better off for you being there.

  7. The first time I felt like that was when my dad died 25 years ago. My dad just died, and my mum and I still had to eat. It was very surreal. It's the same with all of us. Life will continue on, with or without us. It helps me to think about when I want to leave behind for those I love.

What a jazzy song your Lisping choir is singing! Is this song the inspiration for your colorful Lego toucan?
Nice that Elder Islwyn kindly cleared your garden of rubbish and that you can keep up with what you're missing in Trelawnyd while the crud has you sidelined.
Hope you're having lovely soups and hot beverages to help quench the cough and miseries.
Talk with your doctor's office and see if you need to go there or need Rxs.

    Hugs!

    1. I heated garlic and oil and cooked vegetables and chilli flakes before adding chicken broth and noodles
The chilli gives the soup heat ……add chicken pieces before serving

      Bloody lovely

  13. Love the toucan. It's whimsical and very nicely done.
The nasty virus does not make full recovery easy. You'll get there, but it does take time, rest and fluids. Have you got some chicken soup? That always helps.

  14. It is good to hear from you, take time and regain your strength. You do matter, you would be missed, will be someday. Illness and the death of friends and family are reminders to find joy and comfort in each day. There are no guarantees. Hug the fur-kids.

  15. I hope the malaise finds the exit. I'm glad you had the charming toucan to occupy your mind and fingers. I gave my daughter the pink typewriter for christmas. Adults like Lego, too!
Cheers, Jonno, glad you are starting to feel better...

  17. You could take the advice Bara bada bastu (Just go to sauna) from KAJ! In Finland they have this saying "If sauna, booze or tar doesn't help, the sickness is your demise." But hot very humid air (more like hot steam) might help to clear some congestion, and original, true Finnish sauna is very relaxing ritual.
I hope you will feel better soon.

Could an old lady like me do a lego? How many pieces are in the toucan? I saw lego at Costco last week but they all had over 1000 pieces and I took a pass. What do you think. I am snowed in and we have not been plowed. We got about a foot of snow last night. You are sounding a little better today John. Gigi

  19. I didn't watch the video (its 1/4 to 5 in the morning here and I don't want to disturb the others) but you managed to give me an earworm anyway!! I am glad that you are on the up and up enough to lego. My main problem with lego is another bit of my mind takes over and I spend more time organising and tidying - it must be a motherhood trauma thing.

  21. The world may continue to spin, John, but I’ll bet there were comments like “we’ll have to ask John how he did that” … you certainly will have been missed! Your Toucan is cute, and you can put it back together after Weaver’s assistance. That’s the beauty of Lego. If you could taste the chili in that soup, you’re on the road to recovery! Chili blows my head off! Get well, and keep your pecker up! XX

  24. It's a source of comfort, though, isn't it? That the world just goes on as it always has? I kind of like that. It makes me feel less responsible.

Love your toucan! It reminds me of Froot Loops cereal.

  26. I like your toucan, I hope you keep him and display him. Good to read that you are resting up, somehow knowing the world goes on nicely without us is reassuring as many of us do worry too much and would do well to 'let go' and just be in the moment. Hope you are soon back to full health. Betty

Get well soon John. Re the wet farts I think sometimes you have to decide if you want to be sexually desired or you want to amuse. In this case I suspect you can’t have both.

  28. I was unbelievably tired after a bad virus lately and, after a blood test, was put on Vitamin D tablets. They helped a great deal and quite quickly too. Might be worth checking with the GP if you need any.

  30. Hope you are feeling better soon! It's scary and depressing when you get knocked down that hard. I started getting the flu shot regularly because I would be out two weeks if I caught it.

I did get a raise at work one time because they thought I was in a snit and looking for another job during those two weeks. Nevermind that my voice had barely come back by the time I felt well enough to return to work. Maybe you'll get lucky? :)
