My best male friend Mike is a Yorkshireman through and through. He’s not one for keeping in touch, a trait that used to upset me.
It no longer does, as we are always the same when we meet.
His daughter is off to university this week
A wrench which, no doubt will hurt.
I bought her a pencil case today, and filled it with pens, blu tack, plasters, chocolate , haribos and other goodies.
I hope it makes her smile just a little
And thank goodness…The Bake off is back
More cultural, sexual and social differences you can shake your stick at but as usual the contestants have one thing in common, they seem a nice bunch
How thoughtful of you and what a great pencil case and perfect card you found to send!! Well done, good friend, John!
ReplyDeleteDid you get one for yourself, too?
Hugs!
No but I have a lunchbox in a similar style
DeleteSeeing your children off to university is exciting and heartbreaking at the same time. Nothing will ever be quite the same again.
ReplyDeleteI understand that and I feel for my friends

DeleteIn my college days, we hoped for a gift of a roll of quarters for the laundry. It was $.50 to wash and $.25 to dry a load of clothes. I feel ancient just writing that!

They joys of the laundry mat

DeleteFilling that pencil case was such a sweet thing to do. I would have loved getting one as I headed off to college.
ReplyDeleteI’ve always wanted to be a good “ uncle” to her, but I’ve let her down over the years because of the distance between us , I want to make that up
DeleteThat was so sweet of you, John. If I had gotten a gift like that from a family friend when I was that age, I would have been thrilled.
ReplyDeleteMe too x
DeleteYou have the best ideas!!! I’m going to use that next year. I know it will be loved! Carol in Atlanta
