Monday

The lisping choir doing the BeeGeeS a tad surreal but welcome on a misty Monday morning. Autumn is here, and it’s remaining murky and darkish at 7 am.
Going Gently will be quiet over the next few days , very much it has on the last two nights .
I can’t magic news, and no news is good news, like they say.
Let’s hope so…..

I’m up now after a sleep, tomorrow I’m on three nights, so it’s jet lag city
I’ve made meatballs from scratch .
I find a good tomato sauce is made better with a good tablespoon of blackcurrant jelly
gives it body.

Everyone needs a break! And sometimes the break is as simple as not feeling the need to articulate anything at all to anyone at all. And relax.......

Yesterday it dawned on me that fall had arrived. I got busy getting the house ready for winter. It was sunny and dry so brought in the umbrella from the outside table, put the glass panel in the front door and took the screen out. Also packed up the fans till next year. I put away my sandals and shorts. My house is starting to get very cool inside but my daughter and I have a thing about who can last longer without turning on the central heating. We made it til end of September last year although I should have caved before that. I am sad today after realizing that this was my anniversary. It would have been 41 years. Have a good day John. Be good to you, rest, recuperate from your busy work nights, and enjoy your family and surroundings. We'll be here.
Ta for the zippy music from the Lisping Choir this morning!

Oh, yum! Your meatballs and tomato sauce look delicious. Will you add pasta of some sort and take that to work for midnight supper?
Wishing you calmer night shifts than the weekend busy shifts.

    Hugs!

  16. That looks amazing, maybe you should just do a cookbook--a cookbook sprinkled with blog anecdotes, oh how perfect!
. Do you put the meatballs on pasta or rice? Your food always looks delicious. My mom taught us to put a meagre tablespoon of sugar in all tomato sauces, or a pinch of sugar on any fresh tomatoes. Cuts the acid.

Three nights, hard--but will provide some cash for fun outings this fall.

  18. I’m always impressed with people who cook up such beautiful food from scratch. But I’ve never been able to find “scratch” in the supermarket. May you have fairly easy nights and wonderfully restful days.

Your cooking always looks so delish. I no longer cook, I microwave and airfry. I want to make mac and cheese but my freezer is full so I will have to eat leftovers for awhile to make room for leftover mac and cheese. I took a container out for tonight but I’m not sure if it is soup or mashed potatoes. Lol Enjoy those meatballs tonight. Gigi

No news is indeed good news! Those meatballs look amazing...who'd have thought that putting jam in would give it body, who told you to do it or did you just think one day ... give it a go!

  25. Will have to try the blackcurrant jelly. It sounds good.

Sometimes life is quiet and mundane and it's exactly what we need at the time. Well, that is what I find works best for me sometimes.

  26. Looks amazing John. Meat and sauce is so satisfying; it's true comfort food to me. Sending energy vibes your way. I have so much respect for you night workers. If the world had to rely on me to work at night, sadly, it would all be over with. The world can only rely on me from 4 a.m. until about 6 p.m.
