The Village Hall is a big space to upkeep. The stage itself would compliment an average secondary school, so today I helped the TCA Volunteers clear the stage in readiness for the new stage curtains which will be erected tomorrow.
The Hall’s future has been secured by the Trelawnyd Community Association which has recently raised funds for repairs to be done on the roof and double glazing to be installed.
A great achievement.
Now the velvet voiced Linda ( far left) has suggested a Christmas review featuring musical and dramatic talent from the village( after a gin and tonic of course!)
We already have a dozen people interested in helping out
What fun
It looks like a decent building, and I imagine the upkeep is quite substantial. Well done to all those who give of their time and effort to keep it going. The heart of village life. Xx
ReplyDeleteIt’s the centre of the village
DeleteWhat will your contribution be? Are you going to do impression, juggle, or ventriloquism?
ReplyDeleteSing in the choir , and be a positive influence
DeleteThat looks like a huge space, and what an impressive tower too.
ReplyDeleteYour village has so much talent it's bound to be a success.
The tower had a cupola originally
DeleteBravo to all who have worked so hard to secure the future of the Village Hall!
ReplyDeleteA Christmas Review sounds like great fun!
Ian and the other me,bears of the TC A have worked incredibly hard
DeleteWonderful building and am so glad many contributors and volunteers are helping keeping it in use and in good condition. Glad it's fun work, too.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas gala sounds delightful and hope the building can be put to good use every month.
Hugs!
Affable despot jason is on board with the venture
DeleteAs a keen sewist, my first thought was, I'm glad I don't have to make those new curtains! Then I wondered what will happen to the old ones? I'm sure someone would be happy to repurpose them. The Christmas review sounds like it'll be fun. Are you going to do a turn, or are you purely backstage? xx
ReplyDeleteThe old ones will be be used as curtains for the exit doors
DeleteNever mind the velvet voiced Linda - who is the guy?
ReplyDeleteThat’s village leader Ian
DeleteVery nice building!
ReplyDeleteIt’s so big, because Antonio ralli ( the man who paid for the work) wanted as many local men employed in its construction . It’s called the memorial hall because it was built as a memorial to his wife Mia
DeleteYour community is the best! It’s great that building is being cared for. I hope you will be in the Christmas Review. Take care. Carol in Atlanta
ReplyDeleteI will sing in the choir
DeleteIt does sound like fun. Was the velvet-voiced Linda’s suggestion after a gin and tonic or will all performances be after a gin and tonic?
ReplyDeleteI suspect the latter
DeleteWe used to have a similar show annually in our small town and it was a highlight. Then folks changed and became more worldly — too good for the old fashioned make it yourself entertainment. The local show was better and brought much needed community. Enjoy yours. It’s worth the effort..
ReplyDeleteI think we are going to do a selection of reviews
DeletePerhaps you could read from the same Janet and John book as Terry Wogan did on his radio show. What fun. Josie ( )
ReplyDeleteOh, I like that idea. Maybe Janet would help out, a real Janet and John story! I'm giggling already. xx
DeleteIt’s incredibly rude, I will blog some of his best stories
DeleteNow that does sound like fun!
ReplyDeleteWell I wonder just how many will agree to perform ,
DeleteIt begins to sound more and more like The Archers.
ReplyDeleteThat’s how village’s go sometimes , lol I’m glad to say
DeleteI do have a copy of the Janet and John book that was sold for Children in Need many years ago. Of course you can borrow it. Josie ( )
ReplyDeletelol how wonderful x
DeleteWhat a wonderful and brave enterprise. Trelawnyd puts other villages to shame with their sense of community and "can-do" attitude. So what is going to be your star turn? The humorous recitation of an odd ode? Performing terriers? Juggling bean bags? The world awaits!
ReplyDeleteWe have set a meeting for next week for interested parties , affable despot Jason and hattie are amongst them
DeleteYou could do a pantomime. Dame material I think. Deb
ReplyDeleteI’d never act, far too self conscious, but I’d get my choir to sing
DeleteI’ve see photos of the flower show John but that stage is enormous
ReplyDeleteLee
We don’t do things by halves in Trelawnyd
Deletelol the show must go on
DeleteMany congratulations to the hardworking Trelawnyd Community Association on its success! And yes, a Christmas review is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI feel a video coming on
DeleteThat's a great looking building and it needs more events like a Christmas review and the garden show and perhaps Gentle John in a one man performance, telling some of his famous stories!
