I planted up violas on the kitchen wall at teatime yesterday watched by Roger who finds everything I do fascinating .
I love standing by the lane because in good weather it’s a place for people to promenade
Villagers ambling past to say hello.
I’m a sucker for occasional company
Animal Helper Pat, well into her 80s can out walk me anyday
Islwyn with a complaint about my recycling ( don’t ask)
Great Dane Hudson looking every inch an old fellow with his mistress
Mrs Trellis , loving the spring weather
Polish Monika and her delightful French Bulldog who made a point of stucking his nose up Mary’s arse!
And Glyn and his sing song Welsh accent praising the weather, before he sees to the sheep field.
Many and varied
I’m working nights until Monday
They are all worthy characters of your book.
ReplyDeleteI was sat people watching in the little square of our town, feeling sad that Mavis was my longer by my side, and suddenly the loveliest elderly jet black terrier with fur as curly and dense as a lambs, literally pulled his owner in my direction. As I made a fuss of him she said 'he's an old rescue dog and never usually goes up to strangers'. It just made my day. ❤️
What a beautiful story. He knew.

They do so
DeleteWhat a beautiful picture you've painted with words, John. What a lovely book it would be if you wrote about your sweet town and its people, your doggos and cats. A children's book with drawings!
ReplyDeleteA French Bulldog would look good on you.
ReplyDeleteQuite the menagerie of pets, people and plants!
ReplyDeleteYour violas look so pretty. I'm glad you got a quick visit with your friendly neighbors. It brightens your day (and theirs)!
ReplyDeleteViolas are such cheerful plants and blooms and your wall-top planting table was ideal to delight Roger and all passersby!
ReplyDeleteOnly 2 nights before it's Monday and hope all is tranquil during those (and all) shifts.
Now, about your book ....?
Hugs!
Violas planted in a colander! Hmmm... I do have quite a few of those.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the same thing! :)
DeleteReminder to self - buy some violas. Their happy little faces always make me smile. Nice to have a chat with passers by. I'm sure Roger had something to do with their interest! Not to detract from your obvious charms, of course! Hope the night shifts pass without incident and fly by. xx
ReplyDeleteWhen did the big Danish bloke - Hudson get to make Mrs Trellis his mistress? I didn't see the position advertised.
ReplyDeleteI am going to make a plea/prediction: When your life slows down you will gather your stories and finally get the book published we all are waiting to purchase. Yes? Maybe?
ReplyDeleteIndeed, all these characters that pass before your eyes seem like they came out of a story.
ReplyDeleteVillage life. Friendly people where everyone knows everyone. You have a great community.
ReplyDeleteViolas are blooming in pots here too, even though we got 2 inches of snow last night.
Get the village socializing in while you can.
ReplyDeleteA sense of community... invaluable.
ReplyDeleteI far prefer violas to pansies.
Hope those night shifts go ok. X
Lovely vignette.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that Roger is doing his very best to take good care of you!

I would enjoy that some days. On others, I’d be in hiding. Viola’s was the name of our bed and breakfast in Palm Springs, named for SG’s great-great-grandmother. I love the flowers.
ReplyDeleteJohn., I feel like I won the lottery when my twin cats, or a person find me fascinating! Love this post! Hope the nights go well. Carol in Atlanta
ReplyDeleteNow we HAVE to know ab out the recycling!!!! LOL Gorgeous flowers!
ReplyDeleteI love Viola's, pansies seem overblown in comparison and don't outlast the rain. Yours are delightful, I love that Roger takes an interest in what ever you do you, what a sweet boy. From what I remember you have always had violas on the wall.
