It’s sunny with a cool wind.
On our morning walk I picked yellow Rattle which fills the gateways of the fields down the felin . It looks cheerful in a vase on the table and will look better in the lounge after coffee.
The twins still have not left the cottage after dawn, and sit by the open door by the stairs blinking in the strong daylight.
It’s Saturday and Roger is waiting for the bin lorry to arrive.
The bin men make a fuss of him which he adores
I’m going to have a long shower and a shave before work tonight. I may go in early if Yorkshire Pudding emails me. He’s on a short break in Llandudno and according to his blog, emailed me to, in order to hopefully meet up. He’s emailed me on my old hotmail account which has now effectively locked me out after a bout of difficult log ins so I’m effectively cut off from an email which I’ve had since the Dawn of the internet. My new email is similar but strangely quiet
jgsheffield@icloud.com.
I’ve left him a message on his blog, I hope he reads it, or reads it here.
I will leave you with the lisping choir whose first chorister to be seen is my very favourite . The piece rises to a crescendo of sound, much more effective when heard live like I experienced last year.
It’s one of my favourite pieces
I now have an image in my head of Roger awaiting the binmen. I can picture his anticipation. I doubt anyone could look at that sweet face and not instantly fall in love!
ReplyDeleteI hope YP manages to contact you and you can meet up. xx
You and I have had that little vase/jug for ages now, I love seeing it when you show pics of your kitchen. Do hope you get to meet up with the famous Mr. Yorkshire Pudding!
ReplyDeleteWendy (Wales)
I enjoyed that song. Please send my regards to YP.
ReplyDeleteI hope your chorister knows he has a groupie!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of rattle before but it looks lovely in your vase. I hope you get to meet up with Neil!
ReplyDeleteOne of our dogs had a warm loving relationship with the mail carrier, probably partly because of the treats she brought. Subsequent mail carriers have been roundly rejected despite trying the treat approach. Dogs are like us, chemistry sometimes and not others. I'm going now to look up Rattle.

Ceci again - Yellow Rattle is very interesting - it evidently grows around here (east coast US) but I'm not familiar with it at all. It has a parasitic relationship with grasses so people trying to establish wild flower meadows love it to discourage grasses, allowing wild flowers to establish. Hay farmers not so much.,
ReplyDeleteMore than anyone wanted to know? Seeds are commercially available.
Ceci
Yellow Rattle is lovely..I could do with some seeds for my mini meadow at the front of my house... they are available, but sell out quickly
ReplyDeleteAnd I could see you in that flat cap and waistcoat! Very smart! Thanks for the new email address - I am down in Hawarden early June at the Gladstone Library, so not too far to nip across to share coffee and a chat. The yellow rattle looks lovely. Hope the arrival of the binmen made Roger's day! He is so easy to make happy. And there is nothing better than a happy dog!
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed with kind friendly binmen. How sweet that they take the time to greet Roger.
ReplyDeleteYellow rattle is lovely, I have never heard of it or seen, tho I see above Ceci says it grows here.
Enjoy the day,
ReplyDeleteOh, Roger! I love the imagine of him patiently waiting for his friends.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and Mr. P. do manage a meeting. Worlds colliding! Mostly in a good way, I would hope.
Our first dog took it as her job to protect our home from the almost daily assault from the mailman and would jump on the front door so she could give him the stink eye in the door's window.
ReplyDeleteYou flowers and vase are a delight!
Ah, the lisping choir has transported me to the heavens again. Ta, John.
Wishing you and all a peaceful shift and safe journeys there and home again.
Hugs!
Sweet Roger loves one and all. I can see Roger bringing cheer to the Bin man.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and YP meet up.
Your flowers are beautiful. I'll research Yellow Rattle to see if it will grow on my property.
I love YP’s sense of humour. It will be great if you get to meet. Gigi
ReplyDeleteHope you were able to meet up with YP, and you fellas had a couple of laughs.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a quiet & peaceful shift at work, a safe drive home, and a warm welcome home by Mary, Bun, Weaver & dear sweet Roger!
Stay safe & well, John dear.
I hope you and Yorkshire Pudding were able to meet up.
ReplyDeleteIt seems we are all in Llandudno this weekend. I hope you and YP got to meet up. xx
ReplyDeleteArrrgh! Loosing access to your email would be a nightmare! I hope the shift was uneventful and the drive home again smooth. Did you manage to connect with Yorkshire Pudding? It’d be disappointing to be so near and miss each other. Over here there’s a large purple-mauve daisy that gets a toehold in pastures and spreads like wildfire. I think it looks pretty, but the farmers don’t!
ReplyDeleteDon't know about everyone else, but I can't get your new email address to work. Says the form of it isn't recognized.
