Dinosaurs

The cheerful engineer turned up at 9 am ( I thought today was Monday so forgot he was coming)
I was still in my dinosaur nightware. He was here for three hours photographing and drilling , followed by the Welsh, he said his 6 year old son liked dinosaurs but mentioned it without irony, which I was grateful for.
I hope the solar panels will be worth it. As he was leaving we heard a crackling in the electrical circuit and he chirped up better get that sorted quicksticks!
I turned off the power

And so the emergency team is on its way!
Don’t they know I m supposed to be resting?
Trendy Carol collected the dogs and Mandy and John from next door made tea and provided psychological support
I’ve forgotton to change my T shirt in the hurry to clean the cat litter, which as fate would expect, was suddenly overflowing with excrement
The cottage smells like a dung heap.
The electricity board had texted to say they will be 20 minutes away

Shit they’re here

  2. I suppose it COULD have been a Barney T-shirt which is maybe worse. Hope you have power without crackles. Or you might as well be walkin’ on the sun. (And now I have to watch that video.)

Ah, as Robbie said long ago, "The best laid plan 'o mice and men ..." so went your usual schedule of getting dressed for the day! Ta for the laugh again this morning, John.
We too had a son who was nuts about dinosaurs but these years later he's 45 and designs tiny implants to go in bone joints. As he says, it's still bones!
Hope the solar panels are worth it.

    Hugs!

When my husband was near the end, he didn’t have the energy to get dressed so he would have me take him to the hospital in his Star Trek pajamas. He always got clever comments from the doctors. Everybody likes dinos don’t they? Hope you get your solar panels sorted so they are safe. We had them on our boat and they did a good job. Gigi

  9. Our solar is fabulous, so hopefully yours will be too. We've got a battery as well, and are now largely off-grid between April and October each year. Since we've had the system there's been a couple of major power cuts that haven't affected us at all.

  10. Yes but how are *you*? Have you regained and=y strength in your weakened arm? Chores must be so hard for you.
Are the solar panels installed and working, or this was preliminary?

And the solar panels are a work in progress, this is only the assessment stage for them and a heat pump

John, dinosaurs are always in style. The cats didn’t want the workmen to feel too comfortable in their house. I hope you can take a delightful nap when things get back to normal. Carol in Atlanta

We have solar, haven’t paid a bill for 3 quarters and the winter bill won’t be like days of old. It is a wise move John.

Glad the emergency electricity guy was there so quickly, as someone said that's well worth a biscuit or three. Our climate and customs around heating houses here (east coast US) is very different than yours but everyone I know with supplemental solar and heat pumps raves about it.

  22. Everybody loves dinosaurs! You are smart to get solar panels. Hopefully they will pay for themselves!

  23. Gosh, you've had a lot of irons in the fire John! No wonder Lee gave you a rocket! (Go Lee!! The rest of us just worry about you :-) ) Two of our close friends have solar, and it's made an enormous difference to their power bills. Unfortunately we won't be in this house long enough to make it economical to put them in.

  24. You'll get on great with the solar panels John, don't let anyone worry you. We had 45 on the roof of our workshop/garage space at the Welsh house, with never a problem.
