Day Off

Today is my only proper day off, so I met my friend Ruth for lunch and an exhibition at Mostyn Gallery. The lunch ( Greek salad with chicken) was lovely and the exhibition by Vanessa da Silva rather beautiful.
Ruth bought me an original sketch of an old dog which was delightful and I bought a small globe from a shop in town. I used to have one that lit up as a child and have always wanted to own another.

Then we sat on the Promenade in the cold and watched the world walk by

  2. What an enjoyable day. Can we see the dog print, please? We have a light up globe, which we bought from a charity shop for a couple of pounds. It gives a lovely glow when lit. xx

    1. Thank you for adding the photo. The dog picture is so sweet, and I like the globe. It has an aged look to it. Like an old treasure map! xx

What a great day off, perfect. My globe is a plastic beach ball. We bought it in England before starting our Atlantic crossing to Grenada. I have traced all our voyages on it with a black marker. I just saw it in the basement this morning. Ruth sounds like a wonderful friend. You are so lucky. Gigi

You certainly planned well for your day off: a yummy meal with Ruth's good company and then on the exhibit!
The dog sketch is so sweet and will look even better when framed.
Does your new globe light up?

    Hugs!

  10. A day of satisfying escape sounds wonderful with such delightful company. I love your globe and artwork and they make a comforting scenario. Well done. I especially like the wispy color of the art exhibition. This time of year and this year it takes spring colors to raise my spirits. Hope your week goes well and is more relaxing.

And I applaud the acquisition of that globe. I also used to have one as a child and got one at a thrift store a few years back and I love it!

  14. When I have a day off, I tend to rush around trying to get caught up on all the things that I got behind on. I like your way better. I have a little globe too. It is the same globe I had as a child, 5 or so when I got it for my birthday. I remember studying it and day dreaming about what it must be like to live in other places. There were not blogs in those long ago days, where I could read about other lives in other places.

  15. I also had a globe when I was a boy and I would pore over it like an all-seeing god. Maybe I will also purchase another one... but where would I put it?

  20. That took me back to a childhood memory of my dad naming a city and I'd have to point it out in my globe. It was tin and rather creaky. Do you remember those huge globe cocktail cabinets too!

Gifts from beloved friends are always heart warming. I bought a light up globe two years ago.It was listed as for children to learn from. However I remember my globe as a child and how it fascinated me.This one does too.
