Ruth bought me an original sketch of an old dog which was delightful and I bought a small globe from a shop in town. I used to have one that lit up as a child and have always wanted to own another.
Then we sat on the Promenade in the cold and watched the world walk by
That looks like a beautiful art installation.
ReplyDeleteQuite ethereal
DeleteWhat an enjoyable day. Can we see the dog print, please? We have a light up globe, which we bought from a charity shop for a couple of pounds. It gives a lovely glow when lit. xx
ReplyDeleteThank you for adding the photo. The dog picture is so sweet, and I like the globe. It has an aged look to it. Like an old treasure map! xx
DeleteI thought it was a print but it’s an original sketch
DeleteWhat a great day off, perfect. My globe is a plastic beach ball. We bought it in England before starting our Atlantic crossing to Grenada. I have traced all our voyages on it with a black marker. I just saw it in the basement this morning. Ruth sounds like a wonderful friend. You are so lucky. Gigi
ReplyDeleteRuth is a loyal friend always has been
DeleteYou certainly planned well for your day off: a yummy meal with Ruth's good company and then on the exhibit!
ReplyDeleteThe dog sketch is so sweet and will look even better when framed.
Does your new globe light up?
Hugs!
No babs, that would be too much !!!! I adored my globe as a boy, it was wonderful
DeleteNow, that sounds like the perfect day, the perfect meal - and the perfect momentoes. A day to cherish. And much needed!
ReplyDeleteWe sat like two old ladies
DeleteSounds like a wonderfully peaceful and calm day off. And to spend such a day with a dear friend makes it ever so delightful! Stay safe & well, John dear.
ReplyDeleteI’m lucky to have a knot of friends that make up a varied urban family
DeleteYou and Ruth made a wonderful day together.

DeleteWhat a nice day and special treasures. I went for a walk and bought paracetamol.
ReplyDeletelol horses for courses my friend xx
DeleteI love that dog sketch. A local artist?
ReplyDeleteIt’s a real sketch by Katie ellidge called sleeping lottie
DeleteA day of satisfying escape sounds wonderful with such delightful company. I love your globe and artwork and they make a comforting scenario. Well done. I especially like the wispy color of the art exhibition. This time of year and this year it takes spring colors to raise my spirits. Hope your week goes well and is more relaxing.
ReplyDeleteSpring was in the air today
DeleteIt’s hard to make out but the sketch looks like Mary
ReplyDeleteYouare so good at self care John
I like that
Lee
I’m getting better at it
DeleteSounds like a pleasant day!
ReplyDeleteLove a day off.
ReplyDeleteAnd I applaud the acquisition of that globe. I also used to have one as a child and got one at a thrift store a few years back and I love it!
XOXO
When I have a day off, I tend to rush around trying to get caught up on all the things that I got behind on. I like your way better. I have a little globe too. It is the same globe I had as a child, 5 or so when I got it for my birthday. I remember studying it and day dreaming about what it must be like to live in other places. There were not blogs in those long ago days, where I could read about other lives in other places.
ReplyDeleteI also had a globe when I was a boy and I would pore over it like an all-seeing god. Maybe I will also purchase another one... but where would I put it?
ReplyDeleteA lovely gift and charming new global acquisition!
ReplyDeleteA proper day off xx
ReplyDeleteI too had a globe as a child and would spend hours looking at it.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lovely day off filled with fabulous things, and time with a good friend.
ReplyDeleteThat took me back to a childhood memory of my dad naming a city and I'd have to point it out in my globe. It was tin and rather creaky. Do you remember those huge globe cocktail cabinets too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day off, and you can't beat sitting in the shelters on Llandudno prom people watching can you.
ReplyDeleteNothing like a comfy day off, and art, to recharge the spirit.
ReplyDeleteFantastic! I am getting a visit from Steve Reed today and am so excited. This will be our fourth meet-up in real life.
ReplyDeleteGifts from beloved friends are always heart warming. I bought a light up globe two years ago.It was listed as for children to learn from. However I remember my globe as a child and how it fascinated me.This one does too.
