Boxing Day

Mary is more rested, her nesting hopefully no more than a hormone surge. I picked up a new carpet cleaner this morning ( the old one collapsed exhausted due to over use ) so my Boxing Day , I’m cleaning and nesting like Mary had done.
It’s usually a day for walks and chat, but I’ve no one to walk and chat with which is shame but at least I can breathe new life in the living room carpet and half watch Casablanca and The Magnificent Seven which dominate BB2 this afternoon.

Had a lovely Christmas lunch yesterday with family , and there was much hilarity when my nephew gave me this very tragic vase

Luckily my sisters gave me this Barcelona print, which I’ve just hung

And this croc key ring( very me)

  3. I like that vase. It'll go with the orange stuff in your bathroom, won't it? The croc key ring is so you. Someone knows you well! I hope Mary's phantom pregnancy is just that, and she settles down again quickly. Hormones are a bugger at times! xx

  4. I made it through yesterday and I'm thankful it's over. Katie was overwhelming and all I craved was peace and quiet.
The vase reminds me of art deco.
    Take care John.

Oh, I love the gifts that are so YOU from your wonderful family! Nice to see y'all (always plural!) around the table, too. We were 5 around our table and what joy, laughter, and good food was shared.
Happy Boxing day, John, and cherish the rest of your lovely vacation!

    Hugs!

  9. The vase is cool, picture it filled with bright summer blooms. You'll need to plant dahlias for it. Croc tag--you you you!
Do you think Mary should see the vet, if she is pregnant it will be a high risk birth due to her age? Better to know what is going on?

    Happy holidays!

    1. Bethesda is a village a few miles west of me , I know a Welsh family once owned much of Manhattan

    2. Not recently: "The Welsh claim to Manhattan;
Robert Edwards (1716 - c.1788) was a Welsh buccaneer given 77 acres of largely unsettled Manhattan for his services in disrupting Spanish sea lanes. On June 1st 1778 Edwards leased the land for 99 years to John and George Cruger on the agreement that the land and all improvements thereon were to revert to the descendants of Edwards and his siblings at the expiration of the lease on May 31st 1877. Apparently this never happened, and the land ended up in the hands of Trinity Church, of which the Crugers were wardens.
Subsequently, all attempts by Edward's heirs to file a claim to the land have proved fruitless, with the case eventually being defeated by the state's Statute of Limitations."

    3. Bethesda was a healing pool or baths in the Bible, hence many towns called after it.
