Carol Of The Bells

I’m covering sickness tonight and stayed in bed for most of the morning and early afternoon . I woke around 2pm disorientated but with a nasty smell in my nose. Mary needed a shower and had one , we had a walk then for a treat shared a cheese bite share box from McDonalds before going back to bed.
The village looked cheerful in the winter sunshine
Malinka Ley Vey was out walking and I saw that the village Christmas Tree had been erected by Dai Ellis and David Paulus. Now Mr Ellis and I have never got on but I do respect his constant commitment to Trelawnyd and its residents .

  1. Now you've gotten me intrigued. Your McDonalds has a different menu than ours. I need to go off to look up cheese bites.

    Feel better soon.

  2. The holiday decorations are lovely and best of all cheerful. Great for community spirit.
I agree, credit due when someone contributes for the benefit of all. Also, you are so right, we do not have to like everybody, just go along to get along.

Lovely rendition of Carol of the Bells! We sang that in the nursing school choir long ago and far away but I can still sing along.
Hope you're feeling good enough to work tonight, if I understood your "covering for illness" correctly. Awaking to a bad smell in your nose is down to Mary before her shower and not a symptom of your being sick, right?
Lovely decorations appearing for Christmas in Trelawnyd and, yes, credit where credit is due!
Off to the library and grocery today as it's time to get in the Thanksgiving turkey and other food.

    Hugs!

  4. It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I love that there are people in your village who take a pride in making it nice for all. Spreading the love! Hope the extra shift is uneventful. xx

Our community Christmas tree has gone up too over the weekend. It's not a real tree but it brightens up the place. I won't have a tree this year; it doesn't feel like Christmas with just the two of us. The children have their own plans on Christmas day as children do and when it comes to Boxing day it feels all over anyway. I always think it's a good idea to tolerate others just to keep the peace, being civil doesn't take very much. Hope you feel better being sick is the pits!

  8. Our dogs have just had a bath. Always interesting to observe their reactions. One does the "I thought you loved me" guilt trip and the other one "You will pay for this". Hope you have a good shift tonight.

  9. I've got to get through Thanksgiving first before I start decorating for Christmas! Long shopping list will take me to the grocery store today! I'm hosting on Thursday...

  11. Carol of the Bells is one of my favourites but it always reminds me of the tv advertisement in the 1960s for Andre champagne! Apparently it's an old Ukranian folk song though.

  12. My pathetic plastic tree will see the light of day around the 15th Dec. No credit to me!

It's truly feeling a bit like Christmas when the village tree goes up and choirs sing such beautiful carols!

I am looking forward to not doing Christmas as our stores were always open on that day. My MIL would always say she would come and watch the girls and would bring a cooked turkey. Well my MIL was a terrible alcoholic and the turkey would never arrive. One year she left it out on the table to thaw for a week! So when we got home, we worked in shifts, there would not be the promised dinner. The kids didn’t mind because they had presents to play with. Those years have had a lasting impression on us. My happiest christmases were the ones spent in Grenada on the boat with my second husband. My daughter yesterday said Mom, is it OK if we don’t do Christmas, and I said yes its OK, I know were you are coming from. It will be lonely for me but everyday its the same. I will drive around and look at the neighbourhoods lights and decorations. Gigi
