Planets

With my bottle of water, box of strepsils, and pockets full of tissues I braved the journey to Liverpool again to see The Planet Suite.
It didn’t disappoint.
Jupiter the Bringer of Jollity, was so powerful that I noticed a couple of people dabbing their eyes.
I was a tad disappointed that great hunk of spunk Domingo Hindoyan was not conducting this time (Andrew Manze having the honour) but it was the music that counts and last night was a real treat.
I’m in bed now after walking the dogs and feeding the twins.
And feel rotten
I shall refrain from telling any jokes about my Uranus being a Magician
Lemsips and rest are the mantra for the day
Bun ( I think ) is sitting on the clothes horse watching the lane

  1. I love The Planet Suite, it's one of my favourites, I miss music now I'm deaf.

Get this bug over and done before Christmas! Daily fresh lemon juice with honey and hot water is very good for you, and keeps bugs at bay. Add a tot of whisky when necessary. My constant cure. Going to the theatre when poorly demands Strepsils or similar. I once had to be at a press night when full of cold. Had my Strepsils on my knee to chain suck. Coughed so hard They bounced off my knee over the seat and into the lap of the man in front. World's most embarrassing question: "Please can I have my Strepsils back?" Still mortified 30 years later!

  3. Colds are the pits. Hope this one doesn't last too long.

  4. I'd like to have witnessed that, although the conductor observation would pass me by.
Are you sure it's a cold? I had what I thought was the start of a cold last week and it turned out to be Covid, albeit in a milder form than previously experienced. We're into the season of "sneezles and dieseasels" (according to Thomas the Tank Engine). Feel better soon.

  6. Rest and recover. That is one nice conductor.

  7. I hope you are soon feeling better, it sounds rotten. At least you got lots of four-legged entertainment and cuddle-buddies. xx

  8. Oh, the Planets, live. How wonderful. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it, albeit with various medical aids! Now it's time to rest, sleep, dose yourself up with whatever works for you and shake off that bug. Bun, sitting in a sunbeam watching the world go by. What a lovely image. xx

Ah, The Planets!! What a glorious treat and am glad you managed to enjoy it despite that annoying cold. Yes, for today (and maybe tomorrow?) sleep, have soup and warm comforting foods (minus milk as it causes more mucus) and get well.
Bun - or Weaver - seems transfixed.

    Hugs!

A little toddy of bourbon, honey & lemon is my prescription for you, plus longs naps with the 4-leggeds. Hope you’re soon feeling better. Glad you got out to experience the Planets.

  12. I'm sure the music was as healing as anything you could possibly do.
We do not have Lemsips or strepsils here. I had to look them up.

He is quite a hunk. When I lived in Liverpool the conductor was Andrew Davis. When I lived in London I used to go to the Festival Hall and sit in the choir to watch Ricardo Muti (Google the young Muti. He was quite a hunk as well).

  14. It's a good thing I never knew the phrase "hunk of spunk" when I was a young woman, it would have come out of my mouth at some point when I was drunk:)
