It’s raining and I’m taking the dogs over to Pen y Bont for lunch at my friends’ home soon.
The twins, of course have the run of the cottage, and photographing them is almost impossible as they resemble minnows in a fast stream. The best you can get is an arse here and a leg there.
The way of kittens.
I’ve had them nearly three months now and their personalities are starting to show.
Weaver is bigger than her sister, more robust but emotionally is shy and is not a big one for physical affection. Bun is smaller, feisty, likes strokes when the lights are off and is playful with the terriers, though the terriers have no idea what is play and what is kitten aggression .
Both have allocated themselves to a small yellow chair in the back of the living room. It a spot they can survey their world safely.
The cottage looks permanently untidy as a thousand times a day these two little thugs, promenade around knocking over things, just like a motorcycle gang of the 1960s would do around Woolworths.
Roger is perplexed by their behaviour and will often shadow them from afar , looking back at me in a shocked way when another pot plant is moved or ornament battered.
Oh, they are growing up. Darling Roger, he's acting like the older brother, shocked at the behaviour which, not too long ago, he would be doing! I can almost hear his exasperated sighs from here! xx
ReplyDeleteThey look so big. Sounds like they are just the right match for the dogs.
ReplyDeletePandemonium!!
ReplyDeleteWhat descriptive powers you have! Perfect!
ReplyDeleteJust when I think I couldn't love Roger more something else emerges.

In a few months they will be cats and hopefully they’ll settle in and become polite members of the Gray gang. Have fun today John. Gigi
ReplyDeleteIt is so entertaining to watch the reaction of elder animals when young ones arrive on the scene. Are you going to let them do that? Do you see what they did? Oh crap are they in trouble now! We had two black cats in the States. Hard enough to get good photos even when they weren’t moving. But hearing your stories makes me so happy (that they’re not destroying MY house).
ReplyDeleteKittens are a complete pain. We adopted a pair when our youngest cat was nearly a year old. It was good for him because he was still a bit feral. I didn’t appreciate it when the kittens started to climb the Xmas tree and the one year old thought that was a great idea. Xmas tree was removed that year.
ReplyDeleteThe joys of having toddlers around the house.
ReplyDeleteKittens are adorable but exhausting, it's a good thing they grow up quickly.

Oh gosh, they sound so like my old cat Archie (but look like my cats Toby and Tess, also brother and sister). Archie never realised his size and being a huge fluff ball with a tail like a feather duster meant he went through life knocking everything off tables, cupboards and shelves. Luckily we had Sophie the Border Collie to hoover up all the spilt food. :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's been almost three months already. Knocking things off counters, tables, and windowsills is why kittens drive me crazy. They sure look cute though. Poor Roger. Charlie comes to tell me when the cat has done something.
ReplyDeleteHave they shown you any sign of affection yet? I expect they'll drive everyone crazy for a while to come.
ReplyDeleteYou sound like you are enjoying their antics and they are making themselves at home. You have patience with your pets, John. How nice that they are all figuring out how to get along.
ReplyDeleteThe kittens have grown to a good size. Their energy is always fun to watch but things do get tossed about. You, Mary and Roger will likely be glad when they settle beyond the kitten stage.
ReplyDeleteKittens are rambunctious children, aren't they? I love the visual image of Roger looking to you for explanation of why they are getting away with this mess.
