What glorious music to add magic to a Wednesday in the cottage! We have some wonderful albums (I refuse the term 'vinyl') that we enjoy from time to time. Is that Mary or Roger who is itching?
Love Piaf, but you have to be in the right mood. Try Jacques Brel - sharp, witty cynical and perceptive. You won't be disappointed. (Scott Walker always sang a lot of Brel's songs. Try YouTube)
So do I. And she wasn't called 'Little Sparrow' for nothing. A real powerhouse of a singer, and huge charisma on stage. These days she would have been called a Pocket Rocket
Thank goodness it's 7.15 am and I am off to work otherwise indeed the absinthe (or red wine) would be out and I would be listening to Piaf too.... something to look forward to for the weekend and not a dreary Thursday. Expectations are rising.
Have you seen the machine washable rugs? They're quite good looking, some like faded old persians etc. Tho a room sized rug won t fit in my washer, but a great idea for pet people.
I've listened to Mome Piaf for years, and her songs have always moved me. As to absinthe, I first had it in Battambang, at the Constellation Hotel, where Maurice was the night manager. It floored me, and the next day I didn't enjoy my R&R, in 1967. I've had it a
Hit the wrong key...anyway, had it a couple times since, the last in San Francisco at the Villa Florence hotel, just off Union square. It was a weak imitation of what I had decades earlier, or so my mind said.
Lovely,I have always enjoyed Piaf.Nice to see Mary and Roger again.I imagine as well as you have trained them they'll be good while with the kittens, rest well when you do,-Mary
Regrette rien, but steer clear of the absinthe! xx

DeleteI'd love to be your neighbor.
ReplyDeletelol I do make a nice neighbour

No Piaf playing here, but I do play French Café accordion music in the evenings.
ReplyDeleteWhat a voice and such emotion. I agree about her seeming vulnerable but strong at the same time.
ReplyDeleteThe Welsh have great taste in music.
ReplyDeleteP.S.: I could live in your kitchen.
DeleteBANG! BANG! BANG! "Turn that blood row off John! Put some traditional heavy metal on instead!"
ReplyDeleteAs you scanned across your space, it just seemed so classic. As if it might have been shot in the 1930s or 40s.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like your dog has fleas
ReplyDeleteAlas you are wrong
