ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all the winners and a hearty thank you to all entrants.
Cheers xx
DeleteOh, John, it's beyond beautiful. I wish my town did things like this. What a way to bring people together! Congratulations.

DeleteWhat a delight and I loved being introduced to so many nice people as well as enjoying so much eye candy.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your perfect and winning flower arrangement and don't those potted cyclamen look lovely on the tables! Good choice, John!
Now you can rest.

Eye candy ,you flirt
DeleteTime to pour yourself a well-earned G&T and put your feet up. Another successful flower show under your belt! xx
ReplyDeleteThe big 50th next year
DeleteBloody lovely xx
ReplyDeleteYes , it’s the people that make it bloody lovely.
DeleteSandra Cameron won a cup she deserved and loved. A new lady to Trelawnyd won a cup for her cooking and felt welcomed
Loved it
Well done all involved...and you won with the flowers not the boiled fruit cake....it must have been some cake to beat that!!
ReplyDeleteI won the boiled fruit cake too lol
DeleteWell, there's 2 cups you won't have to seek out next year! Well done. xx
DeleteAnd why isn't your winning boiled fruit cake part of your blog post? It's not bragging if it is a fact, so Congratulations!!
DeleteHugs!
I did well this year
DeleteFirst for vase of flowers, first for my orchid, first for my boiled fruit cake and 2nd for chutney and novelty veg
It looks a fantastic day and a lovely community. How lovely to hear the choir as well. Jan Bx
ReplyDeleteThey made the afternoon
DeleteThank you for a peek into the flower show, it was just great. Congratulations on your winning entrees and to all who participated. It looked like a very fun time was had by all. Now you can just relax and get potted. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI’ve had three large gins and am curled up with Roger , bed soon
DeleteBy the way I kind of fancy Ian. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI’ll tell him
DeleteWonderful. And it appears Jamie still looks like he’s 14!
ReplyDeleteHe weighs less than roger
DeleteCongratulations to all! I know this must have been a lot of work and fun too. I need to look up the American blogger from the photo. I wonder if I am the only American that reads your blog and thinks "maybe I want to move to the UK" - Jackie
ReplyDeleteJackie, you are not. :-) I content myself by spending a month in England this past summer with a day trip here and there plus several weeks other years.
DeleteI was there once in 2016. Wonderful memories. Thanks for the comment Sheila. - Jackie
DeleteIt was and is hard work when you are fit, I’m not fit anymore and it was worth it, but terribly hard work
DeleteLove this so much.
ReplyDeleteThank u
DeleteBeautiful flowers and the event looks well attended.
ReplyDeleteWe made more than last year ! Money goes directly to keep the memorial hall going
DeleteI love this. It reminds me of the Fair when I was a kid. Your boiled cake looks amazing, my mum would have loved it. And I love the vase of flowers with yarrow.
ReplyDeleteYes weaverihfool saud it reminded her of the state fair back home
DeleteLooks like you got a good crowd! Nice job by the choir! Congrats on your prizes! What a fun event, John!
ReplyDeleteThe choir was inspired, it felt that the audience ( who historically come for the whole afternoon) had something else to give their attention to
DeleteIt was lovely that Weaverinfool and her family made the visit to your Village flower show John - You have fans far and wide x 🌻🍰🗽
ReplyDeleteWe are arranging to have lunch soon
Delete, it was lovely meeting her family who were so polite and friendly , I wish I had more time to mix
I've been looking forward to the photos; the colour combination in your flowers is just beautiful x
ReplyDeletelol I had to laugh, both my sisters did better cut flowers, but mine took the judges fancy . He was a tough judge too. If there was only one entry in a certain class , it wouldn’t automatically get first or even placed if not up to standard
DeleteWhat a fantastic event. The pictures of the entries are lovely!
ReplyDeleteLinda from Alabama
Thank u x
DeleteDid you organise all that John ?
ReplyDeleteLee
No . Ian from the TCA helps me . And the catering is all left to a fantastic team of volunteers who knowc2hat they are doing
DeleteI do quite a lot Lee
DeleteI suspect you do too much ,
DeleteYour the type that does
Lee
Wow, this looks wonderful! what a good job you do.
ReplyDeleteI’ve been running it for years , that certainly makes it easier
DeleteIt looks delightful. The choir! Good turnout! Bunting, tablecloths and lovely entries. The flowers excell--I am so happy you won first prize.
ReplyDeleteAnd--the winning trophies are very elegant and beautiful, no wonder you work hard to track them down to re-bestow each year.
Are the entry cakes then sold for tea snacks? I can t believe your gorgeous cakes didn't get a ribbon.
I was up against Terry as usual in the boiled fruit cake class . I took first ! His wife , took second
DeleteTerry wasn’t placed x
I love your silly rivalry over the years
DeleteI get a sense you love the people more than the event
Keith
Xx
I will write about the people tomorrow
DeleteOmigosh, awesome news! You beat Terry! And won a first. So well deserved, how I d love to taste that cake you make and see your flowers. Best wishes to Terry & Mrs Terry too of course.
DeleteYou continually do wonderful work and deserve to win John,I hope you have sweet dreams -Mary
ReplyDeleteI hope so too…it doesn’t always happen Mary
DeleteWhat a lovely event! Congratulations on your prizes and on being part of the engine that got 'er done for yet another year. If I lived there I would enter the tiny vase of flowers category. We used to have that category here in our local fall agricultural exhibition and I've loved it since I was a teen.
ReplyDeleteThank u Jenny
DeleteWell done to all. It looks wonderful
ReplyDeleteSarah
Thank you Sarah
DeleteMakes me smile, all of it. Love the post. Look forward to the people tomorrow as well.
ReplyDeletewait so no one gets to eat the cakes? Or that happens after judging?

I was imagining that "boiled fruit cake" was steamed on the stove like a brown bread, I see it's more straightforward, cooking the fruit/sugar on top of the stove! I'll be trying it when candied fruit is available again, it's a winter thing here.

DeleteWhat a fabulous community Trewlawnyd is! Everyone defences a Gold Medal! Loved the choir - were you too busy to join them?
ReplyDeleteThey did ask , as they were short of bases, lol but no I didn’t know the new songs
Deleteit all looks very impressive, i'm glad it went well x
ReplyDeleteThank u x
DeleteWhat a wonderful community! Congratulations, John, on all your awards. That flower arrangement is truly art. And even if I don't like fruitcake I'm happy yours won. Y'know, over here in the colonies, fruitcake as I've known it is very dark. Yours looked light and "possibly" tasty! Maybe you guys just know how to make it! Great show and good people.
ReplyDeleteKind of u xx
DeleteHow lovely that Clwyd East's new Labour MP came along to play her part in what sounds like another splendid flower show. But such events mostly need people like you who are prepared to roll their sleeves up and get things done. Well done John!
ReplyDeleteThank u my friend
DeleteWe had a lovely afternoon immersed in the village flower show. Not only were the entries mouthwatering and the flowers lovely, I got to meet John!
ReplyDeleteNext year my daughters, my granddaughter, and I plan to enter the show. Maybe one of us will even win a prize.
weavinfool
It was lovely to meet you and your photogenic family
DeleteIt all looks terrific. Another successful show.
ReplyDeleteIt was a nice turnout, wasn't it? It's nice to feel like your work has paid off.
ReplyDeleteWell done John, and all your fellow helpers. It's events such as this that keep our villages alive and friendly.
ReplyDeleteHow talented, artistic and inventive your village is! I love it all. Glad it went so well and congratulations.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful community event. And your fruit cake looked amazing. Xx
ReplyDeleteIt bloodyvwon too x lol
DeleteWhat a fabulous event John. Well done to you and all involved, these things don’t come together without a lot of thought and effort. And of course, well done on your prize winning entries in various categories.
ReplyDeleteAmazing day . Throughly enjoyed it . Well done to everyone involved in the organising .
ReplyDeleteAre you related to Samantha?
DeleteWell done 👏
ReplyDeleteIt all looks amazing. Well done for your part in organising it and for your awards, you did really well. Thank you also for the post and photos. It really gives us a flavour of the day.
ReplyDeleteIncredible! Wonderful photos so we can almost feel we were there with you! THIS is what a proper village show looks like. From my own experience of being Secretary and steward at many W.I. shows, including a county federation biannual crafts and produce show, I am hugely admiring of the degree of hard work and detail that went into organising this, from the crisp clean tablecloths to the perfectly placed entries. You should all be very proud and pleased with your achievements here, including such fine and quality support from the entrants. Was hugely impressed by that vase of flowers, even before I saw it was yours. Well done, John. This is a lovely and a truly heartwarming tribute to community and proper old fashioned values.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that x
DeleteWell done on all the organising and polishing! Good to hear that you won.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your photos! Everything looks so nice!
ReplyDeleteWish we were all there to help keep the tradition alive.
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome
DeleteWhy don’t we have a blogging visitors moment in the show
DeleteI'm late , and you have alot of comments so theres a chance you may not see this... But you are so appreciated John.. People like you who keep traditions alive... go that extra mile, make the effort... when it would be so easy to just let things go, slide into a future that has no Flower Shows... Grateful for you and everyone that makes the FlowerShow happen.. Hugs! deb
ReplyDeleteXx
DeleteA great community event that the UK needs more of. Well done on your wins too x
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
I've only just managed to catch up your post, this weekend was crazy busy with plumbing callouts and I tagged along. Everything posted looks wonderful. That was a delightful vase of flowers; I will have to see if I can replicate it for my lounge the colours are definitely me. It's people like you John that drive the village with your enthusiasm and verve for life and keeping traditions going... I can only imagine all the hard work not talked about behind the scenes. Glad you won the cake comp. It looked divine. Would you share the recipe? I'm not a cake maker but would give it a go!
