Sun On My Face

I was slightly annoyed around five.
I had missed the sunny day ….asleep.
It couldn’t have been helped.
I chatted to Mandy and John from next door and sat out on the patio with my face to the sun, a coffee mug in hand.
It was glorious.
To close your eyes and only to see pink and orange on the back of your eyelids.
And warmth on your face
It was Blissful.
The pink in my eyes reflected the pinks flowering in one of the untidy planters and the warm sun brightened my mood as the coffee did it’s job

I was reminded of an evening a decade or so ago when the ghost hens took centre stage on the field

“ .It was approaching dusk on a summer's evening and the rest of the field was in constant motion.
The other hens were mooching homewards to roost, the geese were bickering over a patch of grass like they do and the hysterical runner ducks were being , well, just hysterical.
Only the Ghost hens remained still. Sitting in the evening sun until their white plumage tinged pink..........
with their fat bottoms planted into the grass like old ladies arses on comfy armchairs.

Their faces were held very high as they enjoyed the last bit of sunshine of the day.”

  6. I always loved that picture. It's been bloody raining since yesterday here. Thank heavens for the potting shed. I got my flower pots planted.

  8. Time is not wasted if you've been doing what's needed. And you needed that sleep. Isn't it wonderful to feel the sun on your face and the warmth soaking into your bones? Let's hope there are many more such days in the pipeline. I think we've all had enough of cold and wet. xx

Feeling the sun on your face, always lovely, even if you're a fat bottomed chicken.

My chooks used to sit like that eyes closed heads cocked to the rapidly setting sun. I used to watch them for ages then they'd toddle off to the hen house rounded up by the cockerel my kids called Foghorn.

  21. I am also trying to make the most of any chance I get to enjoy the healing spring sunshine. I love to lay back in a deckchair with gentle sun on my face and the garden around me.

A lovely scene of your ghost chickens in their moment in the sun! What precious memories you have of your animals.

Something so restful about watching chooks, scratching around or planted like tea cosies , enjoying the last of the light.

  26. I think we're all feeling a bit starved for sunlight. I sat out in the garden all morning yesterday trying to soak up as much as possible -- which is a good thing because it's bleak here today.
