Olla

There is a memorial for old Trevor this afternoon in the memorial Hall. It would have been his 100th birthday. His family has organised the event
I will go if I manage to sleep for a few hours this morning . Night shifts don’t half cut into what you can and cannot do, and the older I get the less my reserves cope.
All the judges have confirmed that they will be attending the Flower Show  this year. We have some lovely  judges all told. Debbie was a stalwart of the Prestatyn Flower Show and knows her onions. She is diligent and helpful and joins in with the fun. She also looks the part, often wearing summer frocks and a cheerful straw hat for the judging day.
Mrs Cooke is another good egg. She marks the cookery ( what else) and if she can’t make it her daughter ( another mini me  qualified judge) jumps into the breech.
Meirion Jones from the village has accepted the tough remit of Flower Judge for the second year. His garden is the unarguable beauty in Trelawnyd and has to be seen to be believed, but he hides his talents under a Bushel and I had to do some crawling to get him to agree to come.
I’ve recruited Eirlys from the Marion and jo ( she of the three legged whippet fame) to act as judges chaperones. Village Leader Ian usually goes around with the cookery judge so he can lick her spoons.

And so dear reader before I can sneak off to bed , you can see that I’ve won an award from the lisping Spanish Choir and has been recognised as one of their top fans
Canta con todo tu cortazon

  1. I really wouldn't want to be a judge in a small village where everyone knows you!

  2. I hope you manage to get to Trevor's memorial. Shift work is such a problem for a busy social life.

Village fetes, dances, quiz nights etc., all depend on volunteers who are generous with their time and effort. Your group sounds like a wonderful one. It should be fun!

Love your "Top Fan" picture :)

  4. Nights really do mess up your whole metabolism. I couldn't hack it in my 20's, how you do it in your 60's I don't know! The sooner you get that counselling qualification, and get "proper" hours, the better.
You have a wonderful village family, but I suspect organising things can still seem like herding cats!
I think the Top Fan picture should be framed and go on your art wall. Not every day you get such an accolade! xx

  5. A birthday memorial for Trevor is good...to celebrate and share memories.
We are doing the same for Pirate.

I know the havoc working nights can play in the can/can't of daily life, but hope you can go to Trevor's birthday party.

Well done in getting the Flower Show judges sorted and hope all the rest falls into place easily.

Sweet to be singled out by the choir folkds, too. You do make a difference in all sorts of places!

    Hugs!

  18. My second son works third shift and it is so hard to figure out when I can visit him or when I should call him. But he has done it for years and years, so we make it work the best we can.
Your flower show sounds like such fun.
Hope you have a great week, John. xx

Congratulations on the flower show coming together so nicely..... behind the scenes I should imagine it could be like ducks swimming on a pond calm up top and frantic down below!

  21. The judges sound just perfect and it's good that you have them all firmly ready for the big day. I must say Village Leader Ian has the best job, fancy being able to lick the spoons between each spoonful of dessert or dip into of the jam pots. ;-)
