The Book of Love - The Dutch Tenors

The day hasn’t turned out as it had planned to be.
I took myself off to the University library in Rhos to work for the day.
It was uncharacteristically shut, so I bought a coffee and parked on the Promenade to listen to the rain and the waves.
There I promptly fell asleep long enough for a concerned passerby to knock on the window to see if I was alright.
I dropped into the supermarket, the pet store and then Jackson’s Nurseries in Trelawnyd where I bought a coffee plant and some candlesticks

Tonight I’ve  got a friend coming to supper
Homemade lasagne, mango salad and strawberries and ice cream ( with chocolate sauce)

What a lovely version of such a moving song; wonderful voices. There are quite a few versions on YouTube, including one by a young female Ukrainian choir, but all are very fine.
Well, you would not have fallen asleep if you didn't need the rest (10 minutes nap in the day is the equivalent of an hour's sleep in bed) but being awoken by a stranger doesn't half ramp up the stress levels, even with the best of intentions. And breathe!
    Love the candlesticks!

  2. You must have needed the sleep. Better than nodding off in the library! Would that plant eventually grow coffee beans?

Those look like the candlesticks from nursery rhymes, love them. We are getting torrential rain and wind here today, the kind I am sure the east coast of Britain gets quite often, a real soaker. Gigi

The West coast of Britain doesn't get torrentiaal rin very often, something to do with the Gulf Stream I think.

  4. You must be exhausted! The "Jack Be Nimble" nursery rhyme style candlesticks are delightful. They d be great in power outages [tho you seem fortunate not to experience power failures], and the coffee plant is so cool. Is it really a coffee plant or a peperomia masquerading as? Early night, start fresh in the morning?

      It’s lovely isn’t it?
The day turned out not to be the blast you figured it would be.

Lee you obviously don't know humor when you read it. Or is there a touch of jealousy there?

Lovely song, lovely musicians, lovely tenors!

Decades ago, DH and I were driving to my parent's home almost 600 miles distant. I southern Illinois we were too sleepy to continue safely so we stopped under a viaduct, turned the car of, and slept. The next think I knew, a state trooper was looking at us through the windshield so I waved to him, he waved to me and walked away!

Your new candlesticks are so cheery!

    Hugs!

  8. I think your body is telling you to get some extra rest. A nice refreshing sleep will make all the difference. Lovely Dutch tenors. Nice candlesticks. Will the coffee plant grow outside? Will it produce beans?

Funnily enough I was between shifts today and was pooped so I parked up under a tree set my alarm and had 40 winks; I wish it was longer my fatigue levels these days seems to be increasing. Those candlesticks are darling and very safe looking they will look delightful alight in your cottage in winter. I didn't know you could get "coffee" plants as a houseplant. Wonder if you'll be grinding your beans any time soon?

I love the candlesticks. The coffee plant is also very interesting. I do not believe I have ever seen one before! That little nap may stop you from nodding off into your lasagne tonight. Enjoy your evening.

  21. Do you mean coffee plant as in COFFEE plant? I've never seen one before. I hope you will be using your night sticks for going up to bed.

Those candlesticks need just the right candles - I rather fancy either cinnamon colour or darkish bright blue

I enjoy your columns but your language really jarred in this one. It's a harsh sounding word to begin with, I hate that it's slung around like this.
