Sunday Morning

Storm Kathleen continues to whistle it’s way across North Wales tonight. It was peaceful at dusk when I drove to work, so much so, that I stopped at Colwyn Bay Beach to photograph the metal silhouettes of the holiday makers there.

It’s overcast again, and like many bloggers have shared recently, I too long for for the sun to return, strong enough to dry out the patio of green algae or the mud from the farm tractor wheels to be set into a proper dust, which billows upwards after they pass the cottage in great clouds.

In Sunday tomorrow and apart from sleeping in for a few hours , I have nothing planned.
Lunch out would be nice but everyone’s busy with, what my depressed friend always describes as “ family time” and I get that. I’ve told them to call me when they feel like that.
I can always do lunch out!

So I think I will buy a chicken and do a full roast
With mash and roast potatoes and dripping Yorkshires’
With golden gravy and sweet piles of carrots.
God’s own country.
The Welsh can have boneless leftovers and I can light the fire and watch some Netflix.
Next week, I’ve got two funerals to go to. So my big woolcoat will take some bashing.
I will leave you with a few favourite video clips
The delightfully actorish Catherine Russell  for starters , who reminds me very much of Chic Eleanor

This is kelda, she’s looking for more followers , I’m loving her gentle humour too and hope to recruit her to the Flower Show Committee soon..please follow her videos link below

  1. They are both great! I certainly felt a bit weak at the end of the first one after the "sharing" :)

I can see where Kelda got her sense of humour from too. So funny with her mum and dad chatting. Am not on tik tok so would have to join to follow I think.

  2. My namesake storm seems to have side-stepped us, but it's still damp and overcast with the odd spot of sunshine. I didn't know Colwyn Bay had those sculptures. Do they get covered by the tide, like Anthony Gormley's Another Place? Have you seen those? Quite surreal, but well worth a visit next time you're in the vicinity. xx

  3. I get the Sunday thing. I have plenty of family but they all spend Sundays enjoying their own lives and I find it incredibly lonely.

Dripping yorkshire puddings? You're cooking chicken, dripping is made from roasting beef. Ths best dripping
    comes from pasture fed cattle.
Are those frozen roasties or home made?

    1. Yes, I have a pot of beef dripping kept in the fridge. It makes the best Yorkshire puddings as long as it’s almost smoking hot

We used to have beef dripping on a slice of bread when I was a child. The darkest bit at the bottom was the best.

But what about the roasties question, bought frozen ones or homemade?

  12. I now have someone to compare me to. Not an actor but Kelda. I just got up this morning and there sits me in the car ...you must add a few pounds and lose the lovely accent.
You might as well get the spare room ready. I am moving in. Your food looks SO good. I can add to your income and rent a room. Love dogs and cats and obviously you. Will you marry me John? Well no ...will you be my new life partner?

  13. I love the Catherine Russell clip, and yes I remember supper parties from when we lived in Oxfordshire. No one invited anyone to a dinner party in our village, it was always 'can you come for supper?' ... and it meant that when it was our turn I didn't need a tablecloth on the farmhouse table. :-)

I've followed Kelda, she's not that far off her target now.

    2. We usually kept our 'suppers' smaller, I think the most we had in the kitchen was about 8 ... and our kitchen was a similar size to your entire downstairs.

    Love the beach silouettes, too.

I've just made the backing for a quilt for DS2 who will be 40 next Sunday. Yikes!

We will be having an eclipse of the sun tomorrow, and sadly I could not find any proper glasses to watch it with. I am curious to see how my dog reacts. I will have to stay inside with her while it gets dark. Your dinner looks so yummy, I haven’t had a roast dinner in years, but in Grenada it was a thing every Sunday by all the restaurants. Love the Yorkshire Puddings. Gigi

  17. Dinner looks amazing, you are a fantastic cook. You know the art of presenting food beautifully.
In the plate centers, are those mashed potatoes? Then you have roasted potatoes too?
So the metal people do not get drowned in the tide? I'd find it unsettling if they do go under water. They are so real and evocative.
