Booties

I’m officially an old twat
I bought myself “ booties” from the supermarket.
And I look like a fat Eskimo from the waist down
At least they haven’t got an easy get on zip at the front, or God forbid, Velcro closers.
Shoot me when I’m wearing something with a zip on the front.

It’s a lazy day today. I’m off to London tomorrow taking Nu to see Backstairs Billy

  1. Well, zip, velcro or not, I am feeling drawn towards fleece lined anything this week.

  2. They look warm and that's the main thing!

  3. It's so bloody cold just now that everybody over sixty should be supplied with identical booties. Besides, they make an exciting fashion statement.

  4. I have a fleecy pair of those. A pair of socks underneath and my feet are toasty warm. You know you're getting old when you go for comfort over fashion! xx

  5. They look quite stylish John - Recently I've been in public with jim jams under my clothes - As I can't be arsed searcing upstairs somewhere for thermal under garments - I love being older and doing as I please x πŸ’ƒ

  6. They look warm but I am convinced my wife would kill me if I wore those , perhaps even worst in her eyes than white socks with sandals

  7. They will keep you warm and that's most important. Actually, they look a bit like after ski boots. Imagine yourself at the ski lodge with a fire roaring and everyone enjoying a good drink...wearing after ski boots!

It is all about staying warm and is not a fashion statement! Enjoy the comfort and warmth and hope nobody in the household decides they might be tasty!
Have a lovely time with Nu. Wiill you see her new house?

    Hugs!

  9. Look fab!! Honestly, as long as I'm warm and safe I don't care what I look like any more. It was -7C here this morning when I got up to feed the dogs!!!

  10. Nice. Very cold floors in our house, so I wear sheepskin boots instead of slippers. I hate having cold feet.

Tell everyone they are the male economy version of trendy Ugg Boots and you will get away with it. At this time of year it is warmth and comfort above all else. It's called practical, pragmatic and individualist. And anyway, those white slingback stilettos are not a good look with an anorak.....

If it's as cold where you are as where I am, I wouldn't blame you if you wore Santa Claus-type boots.

I commented that way because it wouldn't accept my Google Account. Have I been blackballed?

No he's in "who gives a toss" trousers - joggers, the height of elegance!

I have a very similar pair. My old house is freezing in winter, the floor especially. These boots are wonderful, as are hot water bottles.

I love wearing booties. They are much cosier than ordinary slippers as they stop those nasty draughts that waft around at ankle height from chilling you to the bone.

  22. I didn't know you had to be an old twat to wear those. Or is it just those purchased in supermarkets? I have cool and trendy friends who have been wearing them since they were in their 20s. SG can't find them in his size (Yeti) anymore.

Good to be an old twat with warm feet. I am a really old twat and I wear a heavy hoody, in the house, at all times these days. I had an appointment to get a haircut this morning and the temperature was minus 14C and windy, just wicked.. I was the only person who showed up for their appointment. I must be nuts. Now I am staying home till next Tues. Those booties do look cozy, not too stylish thought but hey ho. Gigi

Love them and why wouldn't you pick warmth and comfort over style in weather you are having. I'd rather be old and warm than Kate Moss in Paris freezing her tits off in a lace dress...type of youngish and stupid.

I don't have a blogger account either. Just click on the triangle when the Anonymous title comes up, and you will find two other categories, URL and name. Click on name, and write yours. Then go back up right to where it says continue. Click on that and the comment line comes up, and off you go.

Very cozy! Do you have those rise bags to be heated in the microwave to hold on your lap? Or perhaps the dogs fulfill that need!

Oh my, so I'm an old twat. I have 2 pair of wool house booties. Good grief, I must be a double twat!

  29. Like you have ever cared what you look like? ❤️

  30. Old - not very. Twat - never! And one of the advantages of living alone is that you can wear what you like, without criticism - although the dogs might let you know when you've crossed the line if Decency !

  31. Oh, and I meant to say, have a wonderful time with Nu. We'll all want to know about her new home!

  39. Unless I'm going out, I never wear anything on my feet ..... I'm barefoot most of the time. I really should address it and buy some of those boots .... I have just always walked around with nothing on my feet, even in this weather ! XXXX

  40. Comfy at home is the thing.
You need to worry if you start wearing jogging bottoms with black, leather lace up shoes! My friend's dad would go out like that, much to her embarrassment!

  41. Keeping warm is important. It's not a fashion show so sucks, boo to anyone who dares to criticise.

I relate strongly to this John. It is sunny but very cold here and I am wearing fur-lined boots sitting in my chair. The sun is so strong in my eyes that I have been lulled into a stupor!

  43. I'd rather be 'an old twat' with warm feet and new booties than a cold one in fashionable attire. I seem to be going from room to room clutching my hot water bottle like a sloshy hot teddy bear at the moment ... it doesn't wriggle as much as the cat. ;-)

  44. Nothing wrong with zips or velcro closers. Why not simplify your life? Shoelaces are so fiddly, not to mention constantly coming undone and getting into infuriating knots.

  45. They look warm & comfy, and that's all that matters!

OMG I cannot believe I didn't know how to correct this problem...I clearly am also an old twat. Thanks Yorkshire Liz for the heads up.
