I drove to Hooton then caught the train into Liverpool Central.
Within minutes I walked up a busy Bold Street and met Nu in the Vietnamese restaurant Pho
She’s meeting old friends up the coast later so it was lovely to see her
Two hours shot by, like the wind
The dogs were all still asleep when I got home
I so lucky living where I do, 20 odd minutes from Chester and under an hour to Liverpool
Best of both worlds
My once planned but plans change future mother in law lived in Hooton. They had an early phone number, and she had one of those high fluty English voices. You'd call and hear "Hooton Two!" Exactly like an owl.
ReplyDeleteNow strangely that comment had me in tucks
DeleteClose to my neck of the woods. If I'd known, I'd have given you a wave! xx
ReplyDeleteMe too
DeleteYour time with Nu is always perfect. Meals at Pho are always outstanding. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely , but it was good just to talk
DeleteWhat a delightful way to start your Saturday, time spent with the wonderful Nu, a short drive there and back home, and dogs still asleep so they didn't get into mischief or miss you!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the rest of your day.
Hugs!
Thanks babs
DeleteAnd open farm land across the street.
ReplyDeleteYes I take the view for granted
DeleteYou have the best of both worlds -- cities close at hand and an intimate village at your doorstep!
ReplyDeleteYes I know, as long as I can still afford a car when I’m retired
Delete20 minutes to Chester, 55 minutes to Liverpool BUT 5 minutes to Rhyl!

DeleteYou mean they have passport control?
DeleteAn ideal situation!
ReplyDeleteMy old stomping ground, twenty minutes from my home. My gran was born in Liverpool, we visited every Monday to deposit her weekly bakery takings in the bank inside John Lewis. Full of culture both cities, it sounds like you and Nu had a lovely visit.

Yes. Sounds pretty perfect.
ReplyDeleteFun!
ReplyDeleteChester is a beautiful town (city?). I don't know Liverpool, I've only been a couple of times and didn't see much of it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a city, and has been since 1541!
DeleteI often look you up on my road map which together with my world atlas always sits on the table by my chair and it always strikes me what a handy place you live in - near to the sea, near to the mountains of Wales, near to lovely Chester and only a shortish drive to main line trains.
ReplyDeleteSo much to see in Liverpool. The Philharmonic is amazing. Have you ever been? Be sure to stop in for a pee before you go.
ReplyDeleteI'm a true Cestrian, born in Chester, but from a couple of years old, brought up on the Wirral.
ReplyDeleteLast time we drove into Chester it took us 15 minutes, and Liverpool is about 20 minutes, if we take the Birkenhead tunnel!
I'm not sure whether the law was ever repealed, that a Welshman found in Chester after dark can be hunted down and disposed of, but only by using a crossbow! X
You do live in an exceptional location.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the actionable insights that I can apply to enhance my life.
