I hardly slept last night, but finally after 5 am I eventually heard that sinus click in my head which told me my virus had turned and the badness was now streaming and the mucus loose.
My headache is gone and the weeks morbid fascination with feeling unwell is passing.
I opened my bedroom windows wide and washed the bedclothes
Babet has left behind a sunny morning which has aired the cottage from last weeks miasma
I made strong coffee in the Mokka, hung the duvet on the field gate and watched the view of the hills Cefn Du and Moel Maenefa to the south East after I had washed the floorboards and poured the coffee sweetened by honey into my usual bucket cup,
It sounds dramatic, but it feels that illness has left the cottage
Oh what good news! Throw the windows wide!
ReplyDeleteI closed them around 6pm as it grew chilly and.cold
DeleteA glorious day indeed.
ReplyDeleteLess glorious more thankful
DeleteI am always surprised to see the casements of your windows which open backwards (for me), that is to say towards the outside. Catherine from …France.
ReplyDeleteAh! Sorry but I forgot: what a beautiful view! Nature and Harmony in harmony with the music or vice versa.
DeleteWelsh cottages ( like most uk cottages) are built with thick walls.often .18inches thick
DeleteNo I do not think you are being dramatic. Illness has its natural, physical depression that you’ve captured the fight with very well. My father insisted on the bedclothes of a sick child to be boiled on their recovery and once the whole house was surrounded by sheets when we all went down with flu in the Hong Kong outbreak 1969
ReplyDeleteThe view from your bedroom is delightful
My view is superb and I take it for granted , one of my problems
DeleteGlad to hear that you are on the mend but why not go have a nap as you didn’t sleep last night. It looks like a beautiful day in Trelawnyd. Gigi
ReplyDeleteI had a siesta
DeleteBut not under the duvet
I want that to be a sublime surprise later tonight
It's always good to get some fresh air into the house after a siege like yours.
ReplyDeleteI’m on the couch at the moment and am irritated. By a new draught shooting down my leg…it’s Dorothy heavy breathing
DeleteNot been around for a while and catching with posts (and comments) Sorry you've had the lurgy, glad you're feeling better at last. Pretty cottage bedroom and views.
ReplyDeleteYou’ve been away a week, that’s all I’ve written about in that tim
DeleteThanks for your reply John, I think you've got more than one Debbie, it's been about 4 or 5 weeks since I was last on here, been too busy and tired, I'm a carer for a relative.
DeleteI’m still here xx
DeleteGlad the fiend of a cold/flu has gone. Lovely view from your window. Have you contemplated getting a kitten for a playmate for the dogs or would Dorothy be consumed with jealousy?
ReplyDeleteIt’s still here, tissues of mucus like yellow soft cheese abounds
Deleteat last, what wonderful news that you're on the mend, extra sleep required, and don't go tilling the fields quite yet.
ReplyDeleteLove your home sweet home!
Hugs!
Another early night me thinks
DeleteThis post is so soothing. I plan to revisit it again later. Happy to read you feel better. I agree with you about airing things out. Mine is the only house on this street that opens windows. Take care. Jackie
ReplyDeleteThank you jachiet
DeleteWhat a relief to read this. Yes, after a virus I always wash the bed clothes and towels and all I had on, to exorcise the bug! Here's hoping you'll be completely well now, but please don't rush to catch up what you missed.
ReplyDeleteI’m having a day in the library tomorrow with lots of coffee
DeleteSo happy you are feeling better but don’t do too much! Noreen
ReplyDeleteI’m sure I will
DeleteSo glad you've come out the other side! That view is incredible.
ReplyDeleteThank you, you have the sea though xx
DeleteGood news. Both Babet and your horrible virus have departed together. You have beautiful views and letting the fresh air and sunshine flow in to the cottage sounds delightful.
ReplyDeleteIt feels healthy and the cottage feels as antiseptic as ever it could be given I’m the owner
DeleteGlad the skies, your sinuses and your mood are clearing!
ReplyDeleteI feel lighter debra
DeleteThat is wonderful news. There is nothing to compare with a notable recovery of illness - that feeling of survival and burst of ambition. Just take care not to go crazy; last thing you need is a relapse. Ranee (MN)
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say that I’ve not quite have felt so bad for so long. I once had chicken pox that made me feel horrendous but that that only for 48 hours , this has dragged on for over a week
DeleteJohn, happy to hear you're feeling better again. Ahh, that photo is so lovely...I can just breathe in the fresh air. Lovely! Continue making progress. Hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine.
ReplyDeleteHugs xx
DeleteSo glad to hear you're better. It's good that the weather is nice enough to open the windows and let the fresh air in and the bug-laden air out! As others have said, though, don't overdo it. Take things easy for a day or two. xx
ReplyDeleteIi will try
DeleteI became quite tearful looking at your wonderful view, I thought Wales as being more rugged and full of slate and your rolling hill view looks more ENGLISH
ReplyDeletePhysically it’s sounded as though you were very low, almost burnt out
Rest today with your view and your doggos
Keith
Xx
Travel into snowdonia forty miles west and things are very much as you describe them
DeleteSo glad to hear you're feeling so much better! And the view from your bedroom is wonderful! I love throwing open the windows to air out the house, especially after not feeling well. Pace yourself and don't overdo. Continue to be kind to yourself, hydrate, nourish your body & spirit, and rest when your body says to do so.
ReplyDeleteI’ve just forced myself to eat supper which is rare, I’m just not hungry
DeleteI’ve had a siesta today too
Happy to hear you've turned the corner, here's hoping the tend continues!
ReplyDeleteA week is a long time in politics and illness
DeleteThe demons have been exorcised.
ReplyDeleteYes,it feels a little like that x
DeleteWhat a rich and peaceful view out that window.
ReplyDeleteI am incredibly lucky having it….my favourite home was Wynyard road in Hillsborough
DeleteThe view from my bedroom was a brick wall and half a window of the bedroom opposite
Such a wonderful view to look out upon. I am glad that you are feeling better. x
ReplyDeleteMe too, I just have an ordinary cold now
DeleteLove it, and the music playing.
ReplyDeleteAnd our boudoirs are the exact same color. I am very happy with the color.
Me too, it’s a south facing room , so despite the small window it’s bright and sunny, so the blue tempers that well.
DeleteMy mother always liked a navy blazer
Navy is always smart I remember her saying
Welcome back to good health.
ReplyDeleteThe older I become the more important I find it is
DeleteI don't consider any of this post to be dramatic. In fact, I'll bet a lot of us breathed a sigh of relief when you announced your turn of health. I know I did. And that lovely view from your cottage window! Now that belongs in a scene from a movie.
ReplyDeleteThat’s kind of u Katie thank you
DeleteGlad you’re feeling better x
ReplyDeleteDiolch in fawr
DeleteYour home is so lovely. Glad you are getting back to feeling like yourself. Take care. There is nothing like clean bedding after feeling ill. Bun
ReplyDeleteI know I’m looking forward to starfishing under the duvet
DeleteGetting color d of the headache helps.tremendously
ReplyDeleteRID, not color d
ReplyDeleteThe sinus us filled with snot …not nice xx
ReplyDeleteThank goodness. I've been concerned about your persistent ill health! A nice nap in clean sheets sounds like just the thing!
ReplyDeleteCeci
I was concerned too x
DeleteInteresting about the “click” - have not experienced that.
ReplyDeleteGet well JG
I’m sick of this now 💀
DeleteGlad you've rounded the bend!
ReplyDeleteAlmost around it
DeleteFinally you have almost come right... sinus pain is the pits! That view from your window is breathtaking... throwing open the window and washing bedding is like giving the finger to the virus! Glad you've turned the corner.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
So glad you’re feeling better. The view from the open window is heavenly and I’m guessing you aren’t bothered by flying insects as I see no screens. Take care.
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely country view from your bedroom window. So good for your mental health.
ReplyDeletegood for you! I too feel a need to air out the house and change the bed etc. to be rid of the contagion It feels good to do this.
ReplyDeleteSo happy to hear you are mended. How interesting to look over your former allotment, all grown back to nature.
ReplyDeleteBabbets feast is a really good movie. Have you seen it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful view, music, sunshine and cottage. So glad you are feeling a bit better. It certainly dragged you down in spirit as well as physically.
