The C Word

I won’t bang on about it
I’m not a huge fan of Charles
But I was rather moved by his expression when he walked into the Abby
Finally centre stage
A hint of a smile on his face.

Bryn Terfels Kyrie Eleison sung in Welsh was incredibly beautiful

Loved this bit too, see Kate beaming at them at the end

The king sighed with a smile as his army, navy and airforce personnel cheered him from the gardens of Buckingham palace.
I’ve been incredibly moved by today’s coverage.
Seeing the king kneeling in the Abby in just a simple shirt reenforced his sense of duty, and the professionalism of the armed forces pitched things just right

Well done
Well done

I enjoyed the RCMP one of whom rode Noble who was gifted to the King last week. GG

  5. Beautifully executed. The historical context of the coronation are carried forever and have a magical aura. Totally magnificent and dignified. Nobody in the world does a ceremony better than the Brits.

  9. I have asked them not to embarrass me with those gospel singers at my coronation.

  10. I could have begun watching at 6 AM here. I didn't. I know that I will see plenty of it over the course of the weekend and well into the week. I find grand ceremonies like this incredibly moving, marking indelibly this moment, this place, this time setting it apart from the ordinariness forever.

  11. It was a marvellous, well-choreographed event. Such a shame that the sun didn't shine to bring out the colour of it all.

  12. I thought the whole thing was wonderful.

  13. It was wonderful and moving. Whatever anyone thinks about the British monarchy it can't be denied that we can't be beaten when it comes to pomp and majesty.
    The whole event was brilliant.

  14. I kept thinking about how Prince William and eventually his young son will go through that ceremony one day.
It was nice to see everyone so dressed up! :)

I found it very moving. I am a fan of his - I thought he looked very tired and very old. Thank good ness he has Camilla by his side - everyone who knows them says it was a total love match and her support is one hundred percent. That 'Vivat Regina' at the beginning always gets me off to a tearful start - same goes for Zadok the Priest.

"The English"? The United Kingdom of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. UK.

  23. I enjoyed this scaled down coronation. I know it has its detractors but something about it just appeals to me.

  24. Interesting but completely bonkers I'd say. Might not be long 'till the next one either.

  25. As always, when a fabulous pageant/parade rolls through London, I was up so early and glued to the TV for hours. I put my Union Jack out and my American neighbors seem to to enjoy seeing it (it's huge!) and some even took photos of it.
My grandfather was a Captain in the Coldstream Guards so any gathering of military personnel in uniform always brings back memories. I thought the entire Coronation was awesome. . . . . and as always I was so proud to be British.
