Still Life/ Busy Life?

A still life , if ever I saw one

I’m waiting in my second favourite cafe in colwyn bay waiting to meet a friend
They are running late,
I’m drinking coffee listening to my phone songs, and have left the dogs exhausted on the reading chair after their morning walk
I’m on holiday this week, though I have a study session to go to at work this afternoon and it’s college tomorrow. ( I passed my second assignment btw which is nice)
In between I’m meeting an old school friend for lunch, there’s Gay book club too and a Liverpool trip to see the oddly named A Thong For Europe with Colin, a comedy play about Eurovision.
I’m catching up with old Trevor too at his new nursing home, going to the TCA ‘s sub committee meeting, sending out the window certificates and going to see a Spanish horror film Pearl which has a very limited run over here.

I feel oddly melancholic today, which is irritating.
But it is what it is
If my mood was musical this is what it would be

I’ve ordered more coffee and I can just now see my friend ambling along towards the cafe without a care in the world.
Heyho

  1. Joining the dogs in the chair for a nap sounds like a great idea.

That soundtrack. What a beauty. I feel quite quiet and still some days. It's not necessarily a bad feeling nor does it indicate that I don't have things to do. Just that I'm quiet while I go about them. Recharging the emotional batteries, I guess.

  4. A still life indeed! Maybe saying "Au revoir" to Faisal has contributed to the melancholia? Whatever the cause, I hope the coffee and chat with your friend helps the mood pass. xx

  8. It would be interesting to know if you friend really didn't have a care in the world or if that's just what it looked like. I listened to melancholy music on my walk yesterday. It somehow helped.

I am posting as anonymous,as I am one of your devoted lurkers,

Saturday before Easter A friend and myself were on our way to Prestatyn….for a few days! ….and I am sure at one point we passed a sign, showing the turning to your village! I felt quite excited, and thought of you and the boys!
    Cheers, devoted lurker!

  16. Beautiful music. I love the great orchestral pieces from films. Schlindlers List is a favourite, sad in context but so beautiful.

    2. Thank you Anne. Classic film scores , in my mind eclipse many more famous classics pieces . They are modern classics and often lack the kudos their historic counterparts

  21. John, I sometimes think you and I are a lot alike. I play this sometimes when I am in a melancholy type of mood. It has been weird counting down my days as a teacher, and sometimes it makes me sad, which for many people I guess would be hard to believe.

Have a happy, busy holiday week,
