Yesterday’s post didn’t need adding too.
I found the whole thing incredibly moving.
I’m at a study day in Bangor today which is at least an hour’s drive for me here in Trelawnyd.
It will be a long day as after the study day, I’m in college which is least on the way home. I won’t be back to the village until after 9 pm. Thank goodness for Trendy Carol and her hubby who will be dog sitting.

Yesterday was a self care sort of day.
I jet washed Bluebell and spring cleaned her interior, which pleased me greatly.I made a sort of Thai noodle thing with half fat coconut milk for today’s lunch and a spiced butternut squash soup for my tea.
I washed and repaired my broken gargoyle and placed him in the inglenook and banked another 400 pounds in sponsorships for the memorial hall windows .

And my friend Colin texted with pictures of our shabby chic hotel in Venice which has been all booked and paid for ……what fun…Venice,
To be fair most people go on holiday for 2 weeks , I’m having three , three day city breaks instead …( as well as three London visits , one with my sister Janet to re visit Les Miserables and one to the Royal Opera  House to see La Traviata with Nu for her birthday ! ( Shussshh don’t tell her )

Anyhow last night Roger climbed into bed in the wee small hours after something had frightened him in the kitchen around 2 am . He always chooses to sleep there in order to protect the cottage but sometimes his nerves fail him and a strange noise will have him scurrying upstairs in order to ask for a cuddle
Last night I think it was an owl in the churchyard
It’s been calling for days.

He then slept curled up , under my chin, after he patted me awake.
He slept
With his eyes tightly shut as children do when they cuddle up after a fright.

  1. I would love a gargoyle like that for our terrace. As for Roger, that would have melted my heart.

      That’s how I describe him.
He’s just been skipping around the house with a milk carton over his nose

What are the unexpected sounds from your kitchen? Have you got a ghost? Ooh spooky!

    2. The gargoyle has a happy face I think, apparently he was on the gable end of a vicarage

  5. It's the looking forward to a holiday that I enjoy the most. The planning, researching places and things to see is most enjoyable. The anticipation is exciting.

  6. When in Venice do try to avoid singing 'Just One Cornetto' in public. Or, on second thoughts, DO it - and give us all a laugh!

    4. From your latest response it looks like you MAY have thought that I didn't 'get' your knife and red coat reference, JayGee. Maybe my own rejoinder had been too vague to show that I had indeed followed you. Whatever - do have an absolutely FABulous time ogling all those dishy gondoliers - plus anyone else happening to be sailing by.

  8. Steve in London also has a friend called Colin! I wonder if it's the same fellow? The same one who appears in "The Twelve Days of Christmas"... "four Colin birds". These Colins do get around.

I have a square piece of concrete that my Grandson decorated with his handprint, some coloured stones, the words ‘I love you’ and his initials, when he was about 6, on my porch. That is the closest thing I have to a gargoyle! I love yours. Venice, be still my beating heart. Roger is the man, until he needs a nice warm cuddle. He is a sweetie, and your cooking sounds so yummy, enjoy. GG

    1. That piece of concrete sounds lovely …..I have lots of strange things like that that mean the world to me….a handmade cheeseboard from my sister, my grandmother’s mirror , a fruit bowl made by Nuala,
A framed photo of my nephew Leo, a miniature cross stitch by a psychiatric patient I once nursed, a silver tankard from a patient’s partner , a handmade crocheted blanket from a friend …I could go on

Dear Roger - our Aussie always found a sleeping spot that allowed her to surveil as many sleepers and exterior doors as possible, which I think was a "guard the flock" impulse.

Looking forward to vicariously enjoying your holidays! Hotel room pictures are a special favorite of mine; came across a package of pictures from the early '70s of a 3 week whip around Europe with a bunch of hotel room pictures - same backpack, 8 or so different places. I had such energy then.....

  17. How funny that Roger would respond to an owl that way. There must be something in his genes telling him it's a predator! Olga has never paid attention to owls, but I guess she's probably bigger.
