I got up early to check the Oscar winners with a coffee.
My predictions were correct in all the acting categories and even though I’ve not seen Everything Everywhere all at once and The Whale , it was fitting that the actors won their plaudits .
I was shedding a tear over Jamie Lee Curtis’ speech when Albert walked through the kitchen without a hint of a limp followed by Roger who was skipping.
Albert gave me a look then popped through the cat flap into the garden for a wee and a poo. He watched as I marshalled the dogs into the car and when we returned he had returned to the back bedroom before eating the chicken I had left for him.
Animals , they always prove you out to be liars.
Cinema afternoon
Lots of good news this morning
ReplyDeleteWell I suspect the good news. Is a blip 😥
DeleteReally glad to hear your news. Jan xx
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed
DeleteYes, I agree -- all the right nominees won. It was a good day at the Oscars.
ReplyDeleteJamie lees tribute to her horror fans was incredibly sweet and grounding
DeleteHave not watch the Oscars in years but did last night just for Naanu Naanu. All the rest of the winners were more than the right picks. And, being inclined as I am, it was about time the Asian actors, writers, etc., etc., finally got some recognition.
ReplyDeleteI loved when Ke huy Quan met Harrison Ford his friend and. Indiana Jones sidekick from 1982
DeleteHoorah for Albert,!It seems your care and Roger's staying near him was helpful.I will likely watch the Oscars as they're replayed on tv .-Mary
ReplyDeleteRoger is obsessed with anything new, and his and m routine was changed by Albert being ill and under the bed
DeletePleased about Albert.Hugs xx
ReplyDeleteWatch this space
DeleteNot bothered about the Oscars - but Albert _ YAY!
ReplyDeleteI hope he's well and truly turned the corner and will go on being his gorgeous grumpy self for many more years. I must say, I was dreading your news this morning. xx
Well I know I’ve been pointedly guarded about this recovery, the return to his under the bed troubles me
DeleteGood on Roger!
ReplyDelete🤔
DeleteSo glad to hear that Albert has rallied.
ReplyDelete🤞🏻
DeleteSeconding that, JG
DeleteAnd the Oscar for Best Comeback goes to -- ALBERT! Yay, glad he's perkier today and eating chicken!
ReplyDeleteXx
DeleteGood happy news. Roger obviously has been studying you on how to be caring. xxx
ReplyDeleteHe’s a funny little chap insanely good humoured
DeleteGood happy news. Roger has been studying you on how to be caring. xxx
ReplyDeleteI ve even moved and fascinated his behaviour , not only to albert but to any animal and person he meets, he’s just incredibly friendly
DeleteHurrah for Albert!
ReplyDelete👏🏻
DeleteI'm like Happy - don't care about the Oscars - but the news about Albert makes me very happy. Here's hoping he continues to recover.
ReplyDeleteI hope so Amanda but I’m my experience once cats fade they continue to
DeleteSo, now I have my list of what to see. Ah, Albert!
ReplyDeleteYes I suspect I’d had the Asian movie
DeleteHappy that Albert seems to have perked up. I hope he improves throughout the day.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed and crossed again
DeleteJust good to be mistaken. The love of Roger may have made a difference. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes I think that too
DeleteRoger continues to make me incredibly proud, he’s such a sweet bboy
DeletePhew! For Albert.
ReplyDeleteFor now x
DeleteI really enjoyed seeing the acting awards too - and was delighted for the winners - but the best news is hearing that Albert is feeling better today
ReplyDeleteSiobhan x
Jamie. Lee Curtis, to me, seems incredibly grounded and normal . She has grown as a person , and her Hollywood lifestyle hasn’t changed her for the negative .
DeleteHe relationships with yeoh and Quan seem incredibly genuine
Phewee - that was close - Praise to Dr Roger xxx
ReplyDeleteSo far flis
DeleteGlad Albert a little perkier. Maybe he ate something that didn't agree with him. Give nurse Roger a treat. Jen
ReplyDeleteYes it crossed my mind that …fingers crossed
DeleteSo happy to hear this, Albert has been in my thoughts. Sounds like his look at you could be understood as, yes, I'm fine, no fuss necessary, just living my independent life. Yay for Nurse Roger 😍
ReplyDeleteI’ve been incredibly moved by tge readers’ good wishes, for a bad tempered almost fertile cat that they have never met
DeleteThe Asian actors were the stars of the Oscars. Well done! It appears Albert had a single bad day - onward and upward for Albert.
ReplyDeleteOnly a handful of Asian actors have won oscars it would seem
DeleteSo happy Albert feels better! I was bracing for the worst when I opened your blog but now I'm skipping like Roger!
ReplyDeleteThings may change again my friends x
DeleteHow marvelous! Cats are said to have 9 lives ... with the car acident, does that mean Albert is down to 7?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good start you your day and mine!
Hugs!
I’m remembering that awful night he had his car accident ….it was only luck that I found him that night
DeleteFeeling relief for Albert, even though it could well be only relief 'for now'.
ReplyDeleteYes, you understand that Raymondo …so do i
DeleteHooray for Albert! I love a good comeback story.
ReplyDelete🙏
DeleteGlad that Albert is doing better today. The pain relief you gave him would have helped. That’s good that Roger stayed near him. Mary D. X
ReplyDeleteYes it did…I tried to give him another one tonight uti he” refused”
DeleteAn extra something special (whatever is his favourite) for Roger - proving his worth.
ReplyDeleteHe’s no fool ,when food is concerned, he had Albert’s left overs
DeleteSo glad to hear Albert is feeling better today. That news made my morning.
ReplyDeleteF warned things may change again x
DeleteSuch good and interesting news about Albert! I have found your last few posts bittersweet but this one is just sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt’s all been very dramaish hasn’t it?
DeleteHe's a rascal that cat.
ReplyDeleteHe’s an old boy, too old me thinks
DeleteAnd the award for best actor goes to: Albert! Reckon he really liked the extra ration of canned chicken. :)Seriously, good news on the old fella, hope his good fortune continues.
ReplyDeleteJim , I wish that also but his retreat to the bedroom is still concerning
DeleteNice news about Albert and all those first time nominees getting the wins!
ReplyDeleteYes…..Jamie and Michelle timeline wise deserved theirs though Angela Bassett did look pissed off
Deletedid not watch Oscars- (haven't seen any of the films) but DO want to say I'm thrilled Albert has had a little rally! Cats *do* have many lives......WAY more than 9, IMO. May he continue to fare well under your loving care! Susan M
ReplyDeleteI am no fool, susan, I am hopeful it was a revolving illness but I think we are the slippery slope with Albert x
DeleteExcellent news about Albert. Good old Roger and to think Albert beat him up not long ago. He is a nice gentle soul - Roger that is. I don’t think Albert would be called a gentle soul.
ReplyDeleteNo and I doubt this is a proper bounce back if I’m honest
DeleteJust a blip and now he's well again enjoying life?
ReplyDeleteNo.
He’s not himself ….we shall see
DeleteGlad Albert is up and about. Just have to watch and see what happens next. Hugs for all of you from across the pond.
ReplyDeleteThank u
DeleteOh, I am so glad about Albert. I was so worried about him for you
ReplyDeleteMany years ago my cat was so ill, we took him to the vet who said he had acute pancreatitis and put him on a drip. After 3 days they said there was nothing more they could do and the kindest thing we could do .....
They brought him to us to say goodbye but there was just something about him and I insisted on taking him home as they said he wasn't in any pain at the moment. I promised the vet that I wouldn't let him suffer but would bring him back if necessary.
After 3 days of him not eating and not peeing I said we would take him back to the vets on the Monday, 2 days away. That night I held him up in the garden and he peed for england and then ate the tiniest amount of tuna from my fingers. My daughter fed him from a teaspoon every few hours and we got a syringe (minus the needle) to give him fluids directly into his mouth.
We had to hold him up to pee again and again. It took a while before he was fully ok but needless to say we never took him back to the vets and he passed away in his sleep nearly 3 years later at age 20 years
That was intensive care for cats to be sure
DeleteWell done you ..I found this rathe moving to read l
Good for you Lee. We had a similar situation, Eric was about 13 and had been at the vet for four days. The vet called me to say the time had come. We both left work and drove to the vet so we could be there. When we got there the vet said that she had changed her mind and Eric was a little bit brighter. We went with it, took her home three days later. She loved for another two-three years but we had to give her subcutaneous fluids twice a day for the rest of her life.
DeleteAnimals - they break your bloody hearts and the o my way to avoid that is not have them…and that isn’t an option.
It is an option for some people Traveller, I've had dogs, cats and horses for all my life, I'm now 70 and after my last pet, my dearly loved dog, died I said I can't go through that again, I was heartbroken. I've said the same thing before after losing pets then been swayed by some rescue animal in need of a home but this time I meant it. I'm still grieving my last old boy and he died over 2 years ago and although I know my attention could be diverted by caring for another old dog I can't face more grief and I've remained without a pet. So yes, it was an option for me.
DeleteA majority of the awards show was fun to watch. I hadn't expected Everything, Everywhere to basically sweep the Oscars, but am glad for their success. The film really bowled me over. A great watch, too, was Banshees. I had thought someone from that cast would have one, but no soap.
