When Darkness Falls

When Darkness Falls is a play , that if written in the 1950s would have toured in rep around Yorkshire for most of 1957.
It wasn’t dreadful
It was just static, slightly boring and remarkably not scary.
Ok the one big scare moment was foiled by a man on our row ,getting twenty people up to go to the toilet ,but having said this , I was bored silly. .
But it was nice to go out though. I enjoyed the event.
One of my besties was seeing the revival of  Oklahoma  in London last night  ….wish I was there lol
I’m on three 12.5 hour days shifts now ( don’t ask )
Blogs will be short xxx

  1. So it hasn't aged well - but possibly many of the less discriminating in the audience were perfectly satisfied with an undemanding night out, do you think? I hope Roger is going to be suitably contained/constrained while you're away? And you've sorted good meals for yourself - you'll be tired and hungry by the end of those long shifts.

  2. What a disappointment. Still, at least you won't have nightmares! A bummer about the shifts. Hurry up and get that counselling qualification, then you can choose your own hours. xx

The miracle of true devotion to Going Gently is that there will be blogs at all under such a punishing schedule! Look after yourself.
Sorry the play was a dud. But sometimes you learn more watching something you don't like than watching something you do. Plus, when you are a bit of a connoisseur you do see the scary bits coming!

  10. I don't like scary stories and usually avoid them. Hope all goes well at work, John. xx

  11. Those are long shifts. I know that's common in nursing but it still seems excessive to me.

  12. Less than dreadful does not say much for the film. A parade of 20 in unity leaving for the toilet sounds dubious. Nights means good coffee and lots of special meals with great desert.

John possibly means 1 person from the middle caused many to have to stand up to let them past? Not 20 all heading to the toilet together, I expect.

Short or long, we don't care. As long as you post, I'm fine. Your wonderful blog is how I start my day and I like seeing you well and happy. Rest when you can, dear man.

Sorry the show didn't live up to the hype but as you said, it was at least an evening out.
Wishing you well with those horrid long shifts. Take some good food, a good book, and rejoice you're not wearing the PPE.

    Hugs!
