My Matsumoto Hogi Frog print arrived yesterday it’s huge and benign and will look lovely in my hallway
I loved this video of a thoughtful gay man sharing a thought about his very straight best friend
Roger watching The Bourne Identity tonight
A recent impulse purchase a Japanese tea bowl ( not arrived as yet)
Raquel Welsh actor and celebrity died aged 82 three days ago
Never one to take herself too seriously she was a talented actress and comedian
She was offered the Faye Dunaway part in Towering Inferno
Japanese art is very pleasing. Will you frame your frog?
ReplyDeleteYes I’ve already done so
DeleteYour new Matsumoto Hogi print reminds me of a bulldog John x 🐸
ReplyDeleteI wonder if I do too
DeleteYor frog print is delightful, subtly humorous and charming. The tea bowl is gorgeous, so rustic and sophisticated. [Not that it matters to the pleasure of the tea bowl, but you aren't a tea drinker, are you?]
ReplyDeletelizzy
To do like one occasionally , strong with a tiny it of sugar
DeleteLove your frog print and the expression on his/her face is priceless!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're home safe and were able to get the TV on for Roger's enjoyment!
Love your ceramic bowl, too. I have a similar bowl made by a friend who is a potter.
Hugs!
He reminded my of a froggy roger
DeleteJust as love is love, friendship is friendship.
ReplyDeleteYes , and he talks about it so simply
DeleteI wonder if Roger will want to watch the whole Bourne series? Maybe he would also enjoy the books on tape?
ReplyDeleteLove the frog.
Ceci
It’s the running down corridor thing he loves so much
DeleteRaquel will always be "Mom" to me.
ReplyDeleteSteady
DeleteIt is endearing when beautiful people don't take themselves seriously.. Burt Reynolds as well.
ReplyDeleteRaquel was a very beautiful woman.
She was , I’ve just ordered her autobiography
DeleteRaquel Welch: Beyond the Cleavage
The frog makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteHe did to me too
DeleteI adore the Japanese art aesthetic so I love both your frog and the tea bowl!
ReplyDeleteBoth have a charm
DeleteI love the bowl
ReplyDeleteIt’s naive but classy
DeleteI like the look of your Japanese bowl; I have some similar. Is it Raku? It has that look about it. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteI don’t think so cro, but I know it’s. Old
DeleteNot Raku, but a Shino glaze. And beautiful
DeleteAll very nice things. Much more exciting when something delightful we have chosen arrives rather than something purely practical. I like your choices. Roger seems to be very taken with the film!
ReplyDeleteI love the comment in the clip that he suddenly "realises" that the guy is one of his best friends. They enjoy each others company. We need more good things in life to lift us.
Yes I needed a bit of light niceness esterday
DeleteFelt tearful after watching that video…not sure why, very touching. Love the frog and the bowl. Roger won’t miss a thing watching the film so intently, very funny. Have a good day and thank you for your wonderful blog, Noreen
ReplyDeleteI was too, I think it was openness
DeleteA nice little collection of thoughts and art.
ReplyDeleteFrothy
DeleteIs it just me, or does that frog bear a resemblance to Dorothy? xx
ReplyDeleteI said similar to you last night hh but John's not posted it yet - I dont know why x
Deletehello fliss, John now has comment moderation so it may take longer for comments to appear. Or ifh he decides it's not suitable he'll delete it.
DeleteI think Dorothy may have the arse with me and it is she that has deleted my comment x
DeleteThe delete and publish buttons are so small on my email link flis I’m often pushing the delete by accident
DeleteFat fingers flis
DeleteI don't mind you deleting me anytime John - You have power to do anything you wish x🗽
DeleteBy accident
DeleteAs a very straight man I can count a number of gay men as friends, one of whom has never come out to me - but then why should he. Sexuality - his or mine, isn't the defining factor in our friendship - there's so much more to it. I value him as a long-term friend and hope he feels the same about me.
ReplyDeleteNicely put
DeleteI am drawn to Japanese art and I like both your pieces. (Hoping to visit Japan sometime in the future.)
ReplyDeleteI would too , very much
DeleteRather interestingly, Bette Davis (who was very outspoken about her and was never one to mince her words) once pointed out that Faye Dunaway was not a genuine A list star because every great part she ever played had been offered to and rejected by another actress first - and when you think about it she was right. Bonnie and Clyde, Chinatown, The Towering Inferno and so many others (including, I suspect, Network) almost went elsewhere. Bette always insisted she was first choice, though she probably forgot she only got All About Eve because Claudette Colbert had a back injury just before filming started - Bel Ami
ReplyDeleteShe was so late on set in the towering inferno, William Holden reportedly grabbed her y the shoulders and yelled at her to be on time
DeleteShe was after that, and went on to star with him In network
Raquel Welch with a "c" was a woman so that made her an actress, not an actor. Just like Queen Elizabeth II before she became a queen - she was a princess and not a prince.
ReplyDeleteI take it you were a fan
DeleteOf both women.
DeleteOh dear yet more "Stuff" glad I don't do the dusting at your house!
ReplyDeleteHuge decluttering here, it feels so freeing and I don't need to buy more. Buying "stuff" filled a void after my divorce but thankfully I'm over it and can get on with life. I hope it'll be the same for you eventually. It takes time.
I like buying nice things
DeleteLove the Japanese tea bowl John - where did you get it please?
ReplyDeleteeBay
Deletefor anon read weaver - sorry
ReplyDeleteXx
DeleteSurround your self with items of beauty that bring you joy.
ReplyDeleteI like how you take your time to add special things to your home. Lovely treats for yourself!
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely tribute to his friend.
ReplyDeleteI found it incredibly charming
DeleteI love the frog print! John, your delight in finding things you love to put in your home was and continues to be an inspiration to me to do the same. I have gotten rid of a lot of things people gave us, now that it's just me here, and have had a comforting time finding things that give me joy. Of course, I kept things I loved, too, but it was nice to be able to replace the things that I didn't care for.
