No More Walking Dead

For nearly 12 years I’ve stuck with The Walking Dead and it’s been a variable ride all told.
I’ve always thought of it as a 1970s disaster movie with zombies and that is how it has felt for most of its history.
It’s a shame that the tv series followed the comic novels, most of which feel cold and rather absurd.

Most of the action scenes in the finale were rushed in order for everything to be wrapped up so neatly we are left with only a few threads to be answered.
The Walking Dead, has always been shite at crowd scenes anyway but it crammed in it’s Easter Egg moments….Daryl mimicking Shane’s hospital moments in season 1.The dinner party scene in Alexandria.
Amy’s death scene in season 1….which was fun

I didn’t mind that as much, because the characters were left to shine and in probably the first time in the Walking Dead history, the remaining characters stopped and told each other I love you.

Diane, who hasn’t spoken for three seasons survived too!

Rosita ( Christian Serratos) had the biggest role in the finale and her death scene with best friend Eugene (josh mcDermitt) was incredibly moving to watch as it was left centre stage and wasn’t hurried at all.
Daryl and Carol voiced their love for each other when they came to say goodbye and with the exception of Luke all of the  other characters all settled down to a normal life in Alexandria or the Commonwealth with hugs all round.

Will I watch the spin offs?
I’m not sure…..I doubt it.

I wonder how long my Walking Dead T shirt collection will last?
Who knows..

  2. I'd get a few more of the t-shirts if I was you, they are bound to become collectable items in the future ... as long as you keep some new and un-food splattered ;-)

  4. Never watched and never will! Old t-shirts make good dusters, if and when you decide to move them on. (Probably sacrilege to all those WD fans out there!) xx

  7. I stopped watching at about season 7. I thought the first 4 or 5 seasons were just fantastic and was a study of how a society is built. Good for you hanging in there!

  13. Are there spin-offs? I had no idea. We loved it for a while but it went on a couple years too long, IMHO. (As I'm sure I've said before.)

  14. Imagine a show about zombies feeling cold and kind of absurd. (Sorry.) I couldn’t even bring myself to watch episode 1.

    1. It’s always been a story about family, the family you make for yourself , and that’s what the final episode celebrated , it was all rather moving

  15. Well you hung on a lot longer than I did. I sure did like Rosita when she first made an appearance. I think I lost interest about the time Beth got shot in that hospital.

  16. I have watched from the beginning all but the last series because I don't have the Disney channel. If it comes out on D.V.D. I will watch the last series. I envy you having watched it if that's not too silly!

  17. I've never been a zombie fan.. so I never had an interest in watching... but my daughter is a huge fan and when she was a teenager we had an in joke about the "Zombie Apocalypse" and just for fun when we went to the supermarket I would dash back to the car get in open the window and shout "Zombie Apocalypse 10 seconds" and give her 10 seconds to get to the car and then lock the doors ..... lots of silliness but a hoot when she was trying to get in the car before 10 seconds was up; we would both be screaming with laughter at her exaggerated elongated run to get to the car in time. Hehehe good times.

  19. I felt the same. Wasn't a fan in the first few seasons but the men in the house watched. Once you got past the gore, the story shone, how would we survive and of the world as we know it scenario?

I like the ending, but still want to know what those damned helos snatching up Rick meant.

I was happy dog survived. I think Judith will pop up in a few of the spin offs

  20. I kind of watched the last season (series) in FF mode, until the last 15 minutes or so of the episode. I found the whole "Commonwealth" debacle a bit too political to follow. Just give me zombies and some good escape scenes. All the political intrigue, well, we have enough of that here in the states. But these last few epsiodes I've watched beginning to end. I found it a very fitting send off of the characters. Loved the line "you deserve a happy ending too". Great acting all around. The three spinoffs (at least one or two I believe) are going to be limited and not multi-season.
