What’s not to like ? A motley group of sweet experts who fix people’s dreams by repairing their broken family pieces in a single swift effort to connect old grief to some sort of comfort.
It’s lovely
And a real sob fest
Today we had King Charles, publicising his passion for apprentice work in the bespoke arts and crafts and it was a joy to see Jay Blades chatting away to him as an old mate, hand on shoulder.
With passions of worth
Charles has always struck me as misunderstood. He had interests that were laughed at back in the day and are now considered mainstream.
ReplyDeleteHe is a product of his upbringing. Still does the stiff upper lip thing in public but I've always thought he's a bit of a marshmallow behind closed doors.
He’s flexing him muscles at last
DeleteMy husband watches this for the skill and talent these people have. I just watch Will Kirk while gently drooling x
ReplyDeleteHorses for courses
DeleteI adore King Charles and Queen Camilla xx 💏
ReplyDeleteI think u need to see the best
Deletethe best John ? x
DeleteBut have you got a hat like Jay's?
ReplyDeleteI have
DeleteI am so with you about The Repair Shop. Which often makes me weep. And the UK version pisses on the Australian one.
ReplyDeleteI m crying too much over it lol
ReplyDeleteI love this show but haven't been able to get episodes for quite a while here in the states. I miss watching it and I would run off with Jay if he showed up at my door!
ReplyDelete:)
It's the stories behind the objects that make the programme for me. Restoring memories. xx
ReplyDeleteWe watched this tonight too. A particularly good episode, but I did worry about the number of times Jay patted HRH on the shoulder. And the tea bag!
ReplyDeleteIt's always fascinating to watch experts "do their thing" in their area of expertise, isn't it, no matter what that may be.
ReplyDeleteI hope that being King is what Charles really wants. It must be hard having your future decided for you and I agree about him being misunderstood. I am glad he is seemingly happy with Camilla.
ReplyDeleteKing Charles is more and more relatable. Photos like the one above show this beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI have never watched the show but it sounds like something to investigate.
ReplyDeleteI think Charles is very decent and I hope he has a good run.
Love the show! Charles, not so much.
ReplyDeleteI like the mugs. Maybe we should all have identifying letters on out drinking vessels. You'd have GG... like a horse.
ReplyDeleteI've heard about The Repair Shop. It sounds like a sweet counterbalance to the unsweet things of life.
ReplyDeleteI love that show, and the Dog House.
ReplyDeleteLove the show. We see it in Canada too.
ReplyDeleteI will have to catch it on I player as watched Autumnwatch instead. But I love it too, for the skills shown, the simple kindness of the cast and interesting back stories of the objects repaired,
ReplyDeleteNice that they made him his own mug too.
ReplyDeleteLove the show too - so much skill and it brings joy to the folk who bring along items which they have so much emotion invested in. I hope it serves as a platform to encourage the non-academic youngsters to consider apprenticeships of the like that Prince-now-King Charles School of Traditional Arts. Iwas fortunate enough to work two summers for thePrince's Trust and met Prince Charles. We had a laugh together as I was not long over Mumps!!

ReplyDeleteIf you like shows about repairing and restoring, and returning a wide range of things to their original (or repurposed) glory, try Salvage Hunters: The Restorers on satellite channels such as Quest. All the skill without the sentimentality.
ReplyDeleteI don't know why but I have yet to see a single episode. I'm looking forward to watching HRH on it.
ReplyDeleteI suspect you will find it somewhat contrived and sentimental . But watching the experts work is always interesting
DeleteCan you put your hand on Charles's shoulder?
ReplyDeleteNot officially lol
DeleteWe don't seem to be able to get it here in the States despite Acorn, BritBox, etc. Maybe some day! Hope Roger enjoyed the TV time too.

One of the best shows on the BBC no wonder it moved from its original daytime slot, it's a little gem. And King Charles is going to be a brilliant king, he loves this country and it's people with a real passion. His ideas used to seem wacky, but he was way ahead of his time and happy to speak out regardless.
ReplyDeleteI adore The Repair Shop. I have a passion for such creativity and skill and bringing things back to life!
