Autumn

Autumn is here.
There is a definite chill in the air.
I’ve been washing the spare bedroom bedding this morning and have hung it on the field gate to dry.
Leaves are whipping down the lane as if in a grey river and have started to heap in the gateways and livery  stable fields and the ponies have started to wear their winter coats.
Roger has been galloping around the front garden, excited by the wind.
He remains a joy
A regular little gentleman.
Who has only just started to learn to cock his leg up against the shrubs and flowers like an adult.

Chic Eleanor has just messaged. We are meeting in the pub at 5.30
how naughty !” She texted

  1. I guess the word "Autumn" does have a silent "n" but not usually absent.

  2. Who couldn't love that face? Hope the washing doesn't end up in the lane or the field. xx

  3. Roger is a good fellow. Watching him chase leaves blowing in the wind is delightful. Does he have a puppy friend to play with? The pub at 5 with Eleanor sounds like good fun.

  4. A pub drink with Chic Eleanor sounds delightfully naughty on a Wednesday afternoon. When I was at University I met for afternoon beers with a friend every Wednesday for an entire school year. We laughingly called it "Beer Wednesday". My classes were done for the day by the time we met but he had one more evening class to get through. He eventually had to repeat that course...understandably.

  6. This will be our last nice summery autumn day here. Tomorrow the weather will take a nasty turn and we may have wet snow this weekend. Alas.

  7. Roger is a handsome boy to be true. But piddling up the flowers is not very gentlemanly methinks. I'll have a pint of Guiness ta very much Tess x

  9. Even getting laundry half dry outside makes a huge difference. Though you do have to keep a weather eye out while it is on the line!!

  10. A five o'clock drink is always enjoyable - I like a glass of wine nearby while I'm cooking dinner! Hope the pub was a fun time with Eleanor.
I'm just back from New England where the Autumn colors are magnificent this year and we hit peak season with just enough fallen leaves to have colorful 'carpets' along the country roadsides, and plenty of sunshine.
    Oh John, Roger is adorable........

  12. Is it too late for me to be there with Chic Eleanor instead of yourself? I could provide an excuse of 'he's sweeping up leaves in the lane and can't make it! ' It's plausible. ;>)

It's funny watching children or animals get excited by a windy day and just run around enjoying it! Roger is so sweet.
