Tomorrow I’m embarking on a little adventure
I’m catching the ferry to Ireland for the weekend.
Not only that , but I am driving Bluebell 350 miles to Kenmare in County Kerry to meet with Nu and her family and friends at her yearly party there.
I’ve booked myself into a lovely farm Airbnb just outside the town where, I’m told scones and jam will be waiting.
I’m a little nervous as it’s a new experience for me
Oh, this sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeleteHave fun! Take pictures!!
XOXO
I suspect that you will love your time in Ireland - partly because you have always seemed a bit Irish to me - John O'Gray. I hope that Bluebell doesn't let you down.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds rather exciting. I'd have to convert it to kms, but 350 miles sounds like a long way. I didn't think Ireland was that big!
ReplyDeleteIt's just over 560 kms!
DeleteYou may meet a wizard with his magical staff there John x
ReplyDeleteI have always found Ireland to be very welcoming!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy yourself.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun and the wonderful green of IR is beautiful. You'll enjoy your time with Nu.
ReplyDeleteHave fun! I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a love idea!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have a great time. How could you not? I hope Roger doesn't fret for his daddy! xx
ReplyDeleteBTW have you seen this man in the US? Given time, it could be you! xx

I greatly admire your ability to go to far away places on the spur of the moment. You are definitely good at grabbing the brass ring. Have fun! I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.
ReplyDeleteAnd you're leaving your brand-new puppy behind.
ReplyDeleteThe disapproval oozes from your comment
DeleteHe will be with his two pack mates at all times Dave
And he’s going to my neighbour who will be looking after him when I’m at work.
"Leave and return" is a good learning experience for a puppy, cuts down on neurotic separation anxiety and lets him bond w pack.
DeleteYes lizzy , a needy dog isn’t a happy one
DeleteThe disapproval is not supposed to ooze, it's supposed to be obvious.
DeleteWishing you safe travels, John! Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to travel to Ireland. Enjoy your adventure John! x
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your adventure and your scones and jam
ReplyDeleteTake me with you.
ReplyDeleteAs you come off the ferry follow the signs through Dublin Port to the tunnel for the M50 - once you’re out of the tunnel you’ll have left the city centre behind and the rest should be straightforward. Have your Euros ready to throw in the baskets for the tolls on the M50.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the car trip! At least you won't be standing on a train platform or in an airport being informed that your holiday transportation has been canceled.
ReplyDeleteE
Sounds like quite an adventure. Have a wonderful time.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! Hope the weather is as delightful as Nu is! Safe journey there and home again, Yes, pictures, please!
ReplyDeleteHugs!
That is a whole lot of driving!
ReplyDeleteIreland is one of the most beautiful magical places I've been; I crossed from east to west (Clare) by train, I can recall almost every detail of the journey, would do it again in a heartbeat. Have a fabuloso time :) :) x
ReplyDeleteps - lots of photos if you have the time/inclination, make lots of lovely memories too x
ReplyDeleteI’m in Ireland at the moment . Weather is great and everyone is so friendly . You will have a great time xx Bernie you
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a brilliant adventure, and once mentioned Scones and Jam would make Alan drive to the ends of the earth ... perhaps they should have promised you a Scotch Egg (Irish Egg) too. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust check your tyre pressure and oil before you set off. Have fun and look out for those smiling Irish eyes.
Why not? I hope you have a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteYou really are always doing something new. Enjoy! Not enough room in Bluebell for all of us.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the time in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteit's good to have an adventure, i hope it's great xx
ReplyDeleteI want to come too ! ! !
ReplyDeleteThat sounds gorgeous, just what you need! I hope you have a lovely time xx sally
ReplyDeleteThat’s several hours of driving - more with sheep in the road. There were sheep in the road when I was last there 56 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWe have rather a lot of sheep in Wales too!
DeleteMy lily is from Ireland John and as she is an atheletic runner I may jump on her back and holiday x
ReplyDeleteAssuming lily is a dog what a cruel thing to suggest
DeleteA horse of course x 🐎
DeleteYeah right - pull the other one flis. You do have a vivid imagination.
DeleteI'm sure you'll love the scones and jam even if they are a new experience for you.
ReplyDeleteRoadtrip! Another year 60 accomplishment. I hope all goes well and you have a great time. Euros? Passport? Couple gift bottles of wine and you're all set.
ReplyDeletelizzy
Oh I love a roadtrip! Especially one to where I have never been before; I understand the nervousness but that is what makes it magical. Have a fabulous time with Nu. Love me a round of scones and jam.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
Have a wonderful trip. Loved Ireland and enjoyed the pubs that allowed pooches in with their masters. Seeing a little 3 yr. old girl dancing to the Irish music in the pub was fantastic. Ah, so many delicious memories! Happy for you, and we all know your dogs are treated like royalty when your friend takes care of them. Hugs from the base of the mini-mountain in Maine. Regina
ReplyDeleteI have been to Kenmare! It is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMy son visited Ireland and said the people were so friendly and he really liked the atmosphere in the pubs. He enjoyed drinking Guinness in Ireland. He also visited Scotland and many parts of England. He really enjoyed visiting Wales also.
ReplyDeleteThe Ferry Crossing is great fun, and Ireland is fun, Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOh, just enjoy. It sounds wonderful. Especially the scones and jam!
ReplyDeleteJohn you can do this with hands tied behind your back!
ReplyDeletehave a marvellous time :)
That sounds like so much fun. Hope you’re already enjoying your adventure.
