Old Friends

Walking into town from Bloomsbury , not far from Russell Square I literally bumped into an old friend from North Wales. I had forgotten he was a solicitor in London now as we’d sort of lost touch but it was lovely to see him.

We arranged to meet last night and as it was so warm I decided to blow off My Fair Lady for some proper conversation, A very cold Italian beer and a cheap pizza.

Soho was heaving, and felt oppressively busy what with the trans rights supporters demonstration swelling the street, so we walked down to the south Bank where the air was fresher and the streets less noisy.

This morning I packed up a brunch from the hotel dining room and went out with coffee and a book to St James’ Park .
It’s already hot and I’m mindful that Avani West Coast trains have already cancelled several trains north this morning so I will plan to return a bit earlier , to make sure I get home
I’ve seen some of the visitor posts  of comic con at Olympia on Facebook , it looks fun
I’ve promised Leo we will go next year if everything works out fine

  1. Brunch, coffee and a book in a park on a lovely sunny summer's day sounds wonderful! In all honesty though I would prefer to do that in my garden in the shade! x

  2. A cold beer and cheap pizza with an old friend sounds bliss. Good plan to get an earlier train, your plans have been going a bit awry lately, and you don't want to get stuck with no way home! It's a long walk from London to Trelawnyd! xx

  4. You'll have time to water the plants when you get home. They'll need it.

  5. Must have been quite an exceptionally pleasing, unexpected reunion to have forsaken MFL (with pre-paid ticket?). Would have taken a lot for me to have cried off that lovely experience - and I've already seen it live at least half a dozen times! Still, I'm sure that your decision more than compensated.

    1. I weighed up human contact against " I'm a good girl I am " and human won

I like the looks of your hook up, even if you knew him already. Did it work well?

  12. I agree with Ellen D. ... it certainly wasn't the trip you planned, however, it seems to be the trip you needed! Hooray for you!!
Somehow or other, the universe almost always comes through to give us (you) what you need ... not what you want!!

    1. Yes marcia, I needed to chat, and talk, and laugh with someone else and not sit alone in a theatre

  13. How great you ran into someone you know! Funny how life works. I had no idea there was a Trans Rights demonstration planned -- but good for them for getting out there and showing support.

  15. Trips always seem to lead to unexpected destinations no matter how carefully they are planned. Meeting up with an old friend was a lovely detour.

  17. It's funny how the universe works. I once bumped into a colleague who was on holiday in a holiday town I visited whilst on my A/L... we were both like "what you doing here". Nice that you caught up unexpectedly those types of meetings usually are the best catch ups. Wise of you to get an earlier train. Serendipity sometime works out.

  18. Given all the recent cancellations, I assume that "Trans" is short for "Transport". Some rail lines might be buckling in today's heat!
