Best Laid Plans II

My nephew Leo is now unable to meet me for comic con at the weekend , which is a shame as I was so looking forward in catching up with him again.
The mantra of the past month must be best laid plans should it not.?

Comic Con or not I still now have a spare ticket to the theatre and another empty hotel room for Saturday night which is a shame as so far I’ve not been able to conscript any fill ins.
And even my two new Walking Dead T shirts were delivered again today.

No trouble
I’m not going to be downhearted, London is always fun to visit on your own and according to my friend John Vanessa Redgrave completely steals the show in My Fair Lady.

Anyhow I made meatloaf in the air fryer for supper today and spiced up the recipe with Korean hot sauce.
It’s a lovely evening with a blue sky fringed with clouds and Merv Price’s racing pigeons are roaring above and around the Church like giant shoals of fish.
And so I’m eating outside, my eyes closed in the sun,  listening to the WOOSH of feathered wings as they circle a dozen or more times before settling

I will leave you with this tiktok video . It’s a cross between a social experiment and some visual silliness where an attractive man pretends to need a helping hand in order to cross a busy street.
I found this excerpt rather uplifting and it sort of reminded me a little of when Leo was a small boy…when we were in the centre of London for the very first time, he would nervously take my hand with his before crossing the road.

  1. You could do your own experiment with your ticket/room. Outside of the theatre.

  2. Your plans all seem to be scuppered at the moment. I hope you'll soon be able to meet up with Leo again. I bet he's disappointed to miss Comic Con with his favourite uncle. xx

  5. In my walking days John I used to love going up to London on my own - planning where to go and what to do. Those were the days.

    1. Not sure if it would interest you but the walk from Tower Bridge to London Bridge north side of the river is really nice with interesting things to see. Around the City is lovely to walk - little parks and seating areas and very old churches everywhere. South side of the river Tower Bridge to London Bridge is lovely too. Hope you have a nice time. Keeping my fingers crossed you get there with the luck you've been having lately.

  7. Geez another shift in plans to no fault of your own. Leo must be disappointed too. London has lots to do. Look at the trip as an adventure. You might find another piece of art for the cottage?

  8. Sorry to hear he can't join you. Good on you going. Now there is a pick up line in a bar, I have an extra ticket for the theater. One of Jay's cousins ended up with two unwanted tickets for the Book of Mormon in New York. She stood outside the theater holding them, and a man came up and asked if she wanted to sell. She did, the settled on a price, he paid in cash, then she said "you better not be a cop, and the 20's better not be counterfit, I am a Nun, I have connections (she is.)

  9. I read recently of a racing pigeon who was heading to Gateshead but ended up in Alabama! The owner is flying out to get him I think. They are beautiful to watch when in a flock.

Best laid plans indeed. Hey, like you say, it's London, so it'll be fun. And I loved the video! So sweet. Bet some people were spooked, though. People are so.. adverse to people nowadays..

    XOXO

  11. Sorry about the nephew. Hope you still enjoy yourself. The video was kind of sweet. Maybe you can find yourself a handsome stranger who needs help crossing the street and you can take him along to theatre.
