Well, your plans may have gone awry, but you must be doing something right, that's one very contented dog. Sleeping dog watcher, now there's a job I've never heard of, but I think you'd excel at it! (Shame the pay would be crap, though.) xx
Sorry off topic, but just saw pic of a beautiful garden in London called "St Dunstan in the East" it's an old bombed out church that was not rebuilt but became a peaceful garden.....worth a look next trip ?
My daughter just got her first dog (my first "granddog"!) An Australian shepherd that is a cute bundle of sweetness. She is so excited. Do you remember your first dog or did you always have dogs at home as a child?
We always had dogs as children and grew up with a sucession of cain terriers and a friendly obese Dalmatian . I had my first dog , a welsh terrier called Finlay at the age of 40
While not wishing to take anything away from dogs, sleeping or otherwise, it always amuses me to see a cat in the dormant state - big 'smile' on its dreaming face - appearing so, of course, because of its slanted eyes, so that whenever they even momentarily close them they look as if they're in some kind of contented reverie. Bless every one of them, cats AND dogs!
I see myself as more of an ANIMAL-man, JayGee. Because of cats' independence they CHOOSE to move in with me rather than live in their own 'proper' homes. I don't search them out. I dare say that if dogs had the same means to make such a decision, despite being at odds with a recognition of their already existing 'pack', they too would be ganging outside, barking to be let in, 'cos they'd also recognise me as being a big softee, giving them what they wanted whenever they wanted it. Oh, the agony of being too helpless to resist such demands - as I'm sure you know yourself! ;-)
Does anyone actually have invitations bursting through the letterbox/email outside of social media? I can't remember the last time I spoke to anyone other than Mrvegartist, and he's been away a lot. As for the last time I actually went anywhere - I'd have to consult my bank statements for reference! Will you be seeing people in real life for your course, or online? It will be lots of new contacts for you anyway.
I think I’m just feeling one sided…take no notice. My course will be a mixture. A great deal of communication is non verbal and subsequently it’s a necessity to work together face to face
I don't think any of us get invites bursting through our letterboxes anymore. If I want to do anything or go anywhere I have to organise and pay for it for myself.
I meant to add if there was a choice in going somewhere that wasn't absolutely lovely, or watching the contented face of a sleeping dog or cat I know which I would choose. Mary is feeling totally safe and happy that Dad is at home and watching over her.
Sweet dreams Mary. She's at peace and thanks to you, everything in her world is exactly right. With all the crazy stuff going on in the world, I like my home and garden even more.
What a beautiful face. I haven't had a dog for years I have cats these days easier to care for when I work and being mostly independent they look after themselves and there are a few less rules to owning cats. But I remember the dreams the dogs had all flailing legs and whips and whoops; probably dashing through the bush down to a distant beach for a swim, lovely memories to have. I don't get invites never really have. I am much more insular as I get older. Most "friendships" used to centre around the children those types of friendships tend to disappear over time.
It's 5.30 am, still dark, and Billy is sleeping on the doormat outside. He loves the early morning fresh air. I leave the door open for him to come back in again when he wants, but he usually stays out there for an hour or so.
It might get easier for people to make social arrangements with you out of work when you go part time. Your shifts must make it harder to fit things in and you may meet new people too. A better balance in life.
Dogs give us so much love and pleasure! Beautiful sleeping face.
When my dogs (3) and cats (2) all settle down together in a big fluffy mass. I watch them and think how the cats and dogs must trust each other to lie so calm and close. I love 'guarding' them as they sleep so peacefully. Watching all the little twitches and kicks.
That is one gorgeous face; so peasceful.
ReplyDeleteShe’s such a sweetie

ReplyDeleteActually, the payoff is the love and adoration John gets from his fur babies! That is better then any cash, it just doesn't pay the bills!
DeleteYes, it was the bills I was thinking of. To plagiarise the Beatles, love can't buy me money! xx
DeleteThe dogs remain a delight and I’m interested to see how the dynamics change once the new puppy arrives
DeleteMarcia, so right…..
DeleteI love watching my two sleep. My babies.

Mary is endearing as she sleeps so peacefully! What's not to love?!

Hugs!
Let sleeping dogs lie...because they're so sweet.
