Some people may recall the 1970s film of the same title with Alan Alda & Ellen Burstyn which was a gentle comedy about two married people who meet up yearly for 25 years to have a weekend of infidelity, sex and intimacy
Last night I met up with my friend Claire to see the stage version with Kieran Buckeridge and Sarah Kempton in the lead roles at Theatre Clwyd which is going through a massive refurb
And we both were impressed with the quality of the production which is a bittersweet exploration of a fairly complicated 25 year relationship of a couple who are both happily married.
Oh, I loved that movie. Haven't see it in years. I would have liked to see the stage version.
ReplyDeleteThe “ look” of it immediately made me feel that it was an amateur production but the performances were top notch
DeleteI haven't seen that movie, but I do applaud you for giving praise. Generally, people are quick to complain but slow to praise. The delight on someone's face when you give them a genuine "Thank you" is priceless. xx
ReplyDeleteThat’s important the praise must be genuine
DeleteComplements are always welcome
ReplyDeleteAnd much rarer than complaints david
DeleteI think it’s vital to give positive feedback when it’s due
Last week I stopped handover to praise the work of three night staff who had to deal with a particularly difficult situation
I think the actors may wonder afterwards whether their audience thought they did the film justice x
ReplyDeleteThe film is considered vintage now as it came out in 1978.
DeleteThe plays revival I guess is based for a new audience
I love this story and once auditioned for the female role. Sadly, I didn't get it. It's a long play for a cast of two.
ReplyDeleteThat’s a big part to audition for
DeleteI remember that film; loved it.
ReplyDeleteIts a witty piece , I originally thought it was written by Neil Simon
DeleteI remember that movie!
ReplyDeleteI thought I did, but I didn’t
DeleteTwitter is definitely the forum for dialogue between businesses and their customers -- for better or worse! (I guess that includes theater audiences!) I like that movie though I haven't seen it in many years.
ReplyDeleteTwitter has an immediacy which suits businesses
DeleteI loved that movie.
ReplyDeleteI’m surprised so many people remember it
DeleteOh, "Same Time Next Year" with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn is one of my favorite movies!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the stage play was excellent, too, and that you shared your compliments with the actors. You thoughtfully sprinkled well deserved happiness into their lives.
Hugs!
So many people don’t praise where praise is due
DeleteGreat that you compliment your coworkers outstanding work and the actors in the performance. People appreciate being recognized. Saying "thank you" is also good form and it's often overlooked.
ReplyDeleteAs long as it it isn’t a “ mindless” thank u
DeleteToday, it would be titled, "The Way Things Are," and there would be a revolving door of affairs.
ReplyDeleteSame Time Next Year was an excellent movie. I haven't seen it in so long. It seems that I am noticing a lot of movies that used to be shown every once in a while, rarely shown anymore that I have seen.
ReplyDeleteI imagine that it could be very good as a play too.
I saw the film but it seems ages ago.
ReplyDeleteIt was made 44 years ago x
DeleteI think giving thanks and feedback is a really nice thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI loved the movie! In fact, I'm going to try and watch it this weekend, now that you reminded me of it.
