Carrie has turned into a hip 50 something baglady who wears rubber gloves to smoke her cigarettes outside her old apartment .Miranda ended her relationship with Steve in 2 minutes …2 minutes longer than my husband ever gave me the courtesy of doing with me.!
(A scene that broke my heart) btw

DeleteNo-one deserves that. But some people are selfish cowards when it comes to ending a relationship. (I'm being very restrained here, had to moderate my language!) xx
DeleteIt seems the "Sex in the City" girls have entered a new era. I have not watched the series and have no opinion on the reality and portrayal of the lives of women as shown in the series.
ReplyDeleteIt’s rubbish, but it’s entertaining rubbish
DeleteI've watched 6 episodes on a free trial, I may need to pay a little to see the rest!
ReplyDeleteI liked the treatment of Big's funeral, the search for something less cookie cutter seems to be a theme these days.
I would like to see some aging parents added to the mix and not just a death bed scene but the nitty gritty of caring about people who resist every step.
The trouble is they are trying to push so much into only ten episodes
DeleteThe drama now needs to breath on it’s own
Not watched the series but it sounds as if I would be interested in the life changes for the characters you describe.
ReplyDeleteGive it a try
DeleteI hope it comes to either terrestrial tv or Prime soon, I am longing to catch up with the girls adventures.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to hear your thoughts sue
Deletei am loving this so much and really hope they renew it. there is nothing else like this out there. they've only tapped into the tip of the iceberg. poor steve but i think miranda is in for some tough times.
ReplyDeleteYes I feel sorry for the him, but then I would
DeleteI won't be watching, but I hope it portrays the reality of women dating in there 50s, it isn't pretty :).
ReplyDeleteCarrie did vomit in the street. X
DeleteI don't watch but I saw the scene with Miranda and her hubby. It was heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteI thought that too…it crippled me a little
DeleteI haven't watched this show yet, but it's on my radar!
ReplyDeleteSteve, if you have never watched this show, whatever you do, don't start watching it now. You have missed that window where it will grow on you. Groaning more likely. Still, I suppose they do it differently in NY. Never in my life have I come across a more pathetic bunch of women. It's embarrassing (not least if you feel, in the slightest, that you bear any responsibility of the antics of your own gender). And whenever I see Jessica Parker I feel I am communing with my youngest sister's horses - face to face. Only they ARE horses and their long faces, by dint of being horses, beautiful.

Your fault I watch !!! You never mentioned the two pickles/willies !! xx
ReplyDeleteLol
DeleteI am really loving this and don't want this series to come to it's end. I really hope they will make more. I love the fact that the cast have aged in real time and that it shows how life moves on and changes. Steve seems to have aged the most but maybe he has been made to look like that to fit the story line. I feel for both Steve and Miranda. I like the way they have used Carrie's cloths too. I remember her wearing THAT dress waiting on the bed in Paris for her Russian to return and waiting and waiting ...
ReplyDeleteBehinds the froth and over written plot, there remains gems to behold…the interaction of the women , Anthony scene stealing, in particular
DeleteJohn, glad you get so much enjoyment out of it. Beats me. Still, I enjoy things that might make YOU run to the hills. Can't think of an example this minute.
ReplyDeleteI only ever watched (ages ago) a few episodes - obviously Big's voice was ear candy and his laid back manner soothing; other than that I couldn't bear it. It was one of those occasions when I reminded myself that I won't live forever and my time better employed.
Having said that, Samantha was my favourite if you'd take away her insatiable sexual appetite. She was the one with the brain, the wit; not needy (well, apart from her insatiable appetite). Interesting that the actress playing her didn't take up the baton to take part in the current series. Maybe sometimes it's best to quit when ahead; a bit like leaving a party when it's at full swing.

I think Selma will bring a little depth as Samantha’s stand in…eventually
DeleteI didn't watch the original so I'm not sure this would make any sense to me. There was a certain period of my life where I had no time to read or watch TV. Now I have TOO much time.
ReplyDeleteSteve's response was heartbreaking. Clearly, he's comfortable with their easy, quiet, comfortable relationship. I was floored by his, "I'm always here hanging in for us. I'm too old to rally for us again." It interesting that Carrie and Charlotte don't really understand Miranda's easy setting aside of her relationship with Steve. I think the friends might have it right this time. Miranda is heading for some eye-opening times--but perhaps some good sex too.
