It took a great deal of self control but I have just placed the last two F&M scotch eggs in the freezer.
Out of sight, out of mind.
I’m back on nights for three, then I’m on holiday
It’s back to healthy eating and health lifestyle from today.
I made a huge batch of spiced coleslaw which will keep for a week as it is sloshed in lemon juice and made a massive Korean noodle chicken salad with lashings of coriander which can be eaten hot or cold over the next few days.
I haven’t left the cottage , except to walk the dogs and missed Mona from Ochr Y Gop’s funeral which annoyed me greatly.
Too bloody full of myself with London to find out!
Hey ho
No other news to report.
I’ve chased up the heating engineers , the weather has turned colder and this morning I lamented my usual forgetful nature when needing my gloves whilst out.
Interesting to see that Kikkoman is as popular in the UK as it is over here.
ReplyDeleteI have litres of the stuff
DeleteYou're as bad as Alan, he'd forget his head if it was loose. His gloves are right next to the front door WITH the dog leads and still he forgets to pick them up. I'm thinking of crafting him one of those strings that used to attach our mittens together through our coat sleeves when we were little ... gosh I hated those!!
ReplyDeleteI’m in good company
DeleteIt's as cold as a penguins chaff here and I've worn gloves for the last couple of days as my fingers go yellow and 2 padded gilets and snow coat-Your coleslaw looks delish John as you do I'm sure-and could you perhaps say to the engineer that you really are struggling now x
ReplyDeleteI’ve buttered up his wife on the phone
DeleteThat food you have made looks delicious. S Es in the freezer is no good - eating a hole in your brain reminding you they are there. Give them to a needy soul
ReplyDeleteThank pat lol
DeleteIt would have been kind to give Dorothy one of the posh scotch eggs.
ReplyDeleteYP-and with the other one perhaps John could leave a message to tempt his heating engineer-"F and M large scotch egg awaiting your arrival come promptly" x
DeleteMmmmm, that food looks good!
ReplyDeleteIt bloody was too
DeleteThose Scotch Eggs are there for emergencies. There WILL come a time when you really need one! Hope the heating engineer hurries up and gets you sorted. It's getting too cold to be messing about. Keep a pair of gloves in your coat pocket, then like me, change coats! xx
ReplyDeleteYes …they should have a glass case around them with
DeleteBreak in case of emergency Written on it
It IS much colder today, even here. The cole slaw and salad look good!
ReplyDeleteI’m farting like a trooper
DeleteYour meals look delicious. I hope the heating engineer can fit you in to his schedule. At least when you and the dogs get cozy on the couch or bed the warmth is shared.
ReplyDeleteI’ve flirted and was nice to his wife the receptionist
DeleteWe shall see
Yum! I've often thought my meals would be more creative if those I cooked for were also vegetarians. I'm the chief cook at this house and when everyone's home, I focus on feeding the meat eaters. My vegetarian meal tends to be an afterthought. I'm a great admirer of people who put time and effort into their meals.
ReplyDeleteI’ve enjoyed cooking more over the last three years
DeleteLovely foods!
ReplyDeleteGloves go in your coat pockets w your beanie hat!
I had gale winds last night off the ocean, cottage thermostat indoors read only 50*---I had to get the baseboard heating going. Maybe you need to install some? Ugly but they work.
I’ve never heard of baseboard heating.
DeleteOld cottages like mine only have a wood burner which heats all the hot water and radiators , I also have a thermal store which keeps the water heated for longer
You can google baseboard heating. They are electric and run along a wall. They are attached to the wall but not real installation is needed so the age and design of your cottage do not matter. You could install in your sitting room and bedroom as desired. as desired.
DeleteYour food looks delicious and packed with good nutrition!
ReplyDeleteWe keep winter gloves in the pockets of our winter coats. You could also tape a large note "GLOVES!" at eye level on the inside of your usual exit door.
How lovely to have a holiday to look forward to!
Hugs!
I’ve lost more gloves than I care to remember , I need elastic on them
DeleteThose meals sound gorgeous. I'm not saying that it's cold here, but I saw a brass monkey looking for a welder...
ReplyDeletePoor you …winter has hardly hit home here, we don’t know we are born
DeleteThe Korean noodle chicken salad sounds delish!! I must find a recipe for it once I am done with this "health" cleanse (no gluten, no sugar, no carbs, no starches, no caffeine, no alcohol). Given up the first few, definitely makes me want a glass of wine...LOL
ReplyDeleteThe recipe is easy , very low-fat
DeleteThe wonder of it it tastes great hot or cold
Started our health regime straight after Crimbo old lad, starting to see small progress already. I don't mind coleslaw but I don't think that I could face the copious amounts that you intend to consume....m'thinks it would give me the wind!
ReplyDeleteI’m blowing like Queen Mary’s hooter
DeleteYou can cook for me any time!
ReplyDeleteDeal
DeleteThe food looks yummy! It makes good sense to plan ahead like that when you will be working. Then off again for more adventures? Glad you make time for fun...
ReplyDeleteYes I’m booking more “ adventures” as I type this lol
DeleteHave you ever tried the keto way of eating. No carbs and you eat tons of fat !! It is like a miracle for me and hubby. Our blood pressure is way down too.It is sugar and carbohydrates that cause inflammation and weight gain.We have been doing this for over two years.
ReplyDeleteNot something I’ve heard of, I will research it tonight
DeleteThanks it has changed our lives.
DeleteWelcome home
ReplyDeleteThank you x
DeleteYour food looks really good, John. And don't forget those gloves.
ReplyDeleteSorry you missed the funeral of a friend.
ReplyDeleteWill have to check out that recipe. It looks so good!
That food looks delish but if it is cold how can you eat cold food??? I hated wearing gloves as a child, thankfully living in Auckland I no longer need to.
ReplyDeleteJo in Auckland
