  1. I don’t know why people get their panties in a bunch over something rather inconsequential. Just move on people. Have a great day John!

    2. Thank you very much John-that's very kind of you-I have too much 70s tv sketches ingrained in my brain I think at an impressionable age-also overhearing my mum and her lovely cousin chitter chattering-I have been called a prude previously which I have tried to overcome xx

Good grief that Cardgate got some reaction! Was that a record response number of comments? And why get so hot under the collar? This is almost too personal to even discuss, as every card, every sender, every recipient,
is a different and a special case. Which is, or should be, the point of sending a card in the first place. A card sent without heart or a personal connection of the
soul is cheap in that it cheapens sender and recipient. Nothing to do with monetary cost. Stick with it John. I do cards but never do decorations.Which I daresay could start another heated discussion!

? Wokeism seems to have overtaken the spirit of live and let live.

Thanks for the laughs from the most wonderful Phillida Law!
What did I miss by not looking back at the Card post? Will have to go see but will agree before I look that it's just cards, not world peace, climate change or something worth getting yourself busy about.
    Sweet dreams, John!

    Hugs!

    9. Yes-unfortunately my knickers did become quite uncomfortable after a hasty ladies indiscretion behind a bush whilst on muddy dog walk earlier x

  8. I never realised that one could purchase frigging Christmas cards! Do they involve Santa and one of his reindeer? Perhaps Vixen who is also on "The Chase".

  9. I had no idea cards were such a debate. I thought the post was touching, if rather a tad fun to read. I think many of our parents did such to some extent. Do you then send /reply to all those cards? I find it hard some years to do so.

  12. I wasn't sure quite what was going on as I read through yesterdays comments. Thought I would keep quiet as I would be a bit out of my depth. The description of your mum was so vivid I could just picture the scene. It was well written.

I love Phyllida Law and remember that clip! A beautiful and funny actress!

Taking down Xmas decorations today and looking forward to the New Year. Have a good day John.

  14. Yes, you certainly stirred a hornet's nest there, John! Anyway, I used to love Call My Bluff. I wonder how many people used the new-found words in their conversation the next day? xx

  15. That made me laugh and I see how much her daughter Emma Thompson is like her!!!

I almost added a comment to the card post but got distracted by my poorly dog. My ex inlaws send me a Christmas card every year with no message, just their names. Why bother as I haven't sent them one for 11 years? They send one to my mother as well but it always has a message in it. Clearly cards are a statement of some sort

You are the author of your own misfortune John.
Perhaps stick to the facts without the flowery additions e.g. "bottom of the box of fifty" and your posts would be more believable and invoke less retaliatory comments.

    1. Flowery additions ? Rubbish.. it was a fair description of how people use Christmas cards , their favourites and nicer ones first
It’s a reference to human nature
      Nothing about believability

Why do you come here? I wonder

  19. John, my neighbor had strung Christmas cards in her front room. Her husband commented that he collected the mail and didn't remember receiving so many cards. She had filled the span with blank cards of her own! Her sister & I wanted to write comments on her blank cards. Your posts are a good read and reflect your daily life that you manage to elevate. Happy New Year.

  20. Hilarious clip! She's one of our neighbors down the hill -- she lives right across the street from her famous daughter. She has lots of concrete gargoyles in her front garden.
