Every Cloud

It’s been a bit of a bust of a day.
Got a cheap matinee ticket to Oliver Twist at the Storyhouse but got caught up in the Christmas traffic in Chester and couldn’t find a parking space for love nor money.
Finally admitted defeat and came home but not before popping to a local deli to buy some Korean ready made meals

Every ugly cloud has a sort of a silverish lining.

  1. Well, at least you got a nice meal out of it. Just a shame about all the rest of the day! Take it easy and enjoy the grub with the gang (or is it not for sharing?). xx

Well, bother! Can you can get a refund for the ticket or exchange it for a different date?
Good idea to treat yourself (and family) with a delicious Korean meal.
Hope WSS is a delight tonight - or is it next Saturday? In Memphis, that would be called 'Saturday week'.

    Hugs!

    1. It's Sunday. If we were talking about next Saturday it would also be described as Saturday week here.

    2. Rachel, reminds me of when I first arrived in England and was told to be at a meeting at half two. Never was I earlier. Where I come from half two is one thirty, not half PAST two.

My first formal British dinner invite read: "Seven thirty for eight." Pardon?

      I learnt. Fast.

  3. That's a shame John-they say when you wish to find a parking space you should ask a parking angel for assistance-May be it was a blessing that you were unable to reach The Theatre with all the germs about-and your meal does look scrumptious-even though myself I never partake of a meaty sausage x

  4. Because I can no longer walk unaided John I have sold my car. I do miss it sometimes but on occasions like this I am glad.

    1. Sorry, John, I misplaced myself when talking to Rachel. Two of me is, even by my high standards, one too many.

Currently you'd have to pay me to sit anywhere for any length of time in an enclosed space. And even then I'd pass. Not that I'd be admitted anyway. Netflix and Amazon Prime are your friends - in the privacy of your own lounge. And when you don't quite get the story line you can always go back a few frames. Bliss.

  7. Traffic? No parking? I thought that only happened to me! But you made lemons out of lemonade ... or, a meal ticket out of a ticket.

    1. I was explaining to Barbara very briefly that you were going to see WSS on Sunday! Then I agreed with her about how we would say Saturday week, totally unconnected.

  9. Parking can be a nightmare around the holidays. You improvised well coming home with ready made Korean delicacies. They look delicious.

  10. I have only just discovered south east asian cooking... it is delicious. I love making the curry pastes and I make enough for 4 or 5 different meals. That way it's a breeze to rustle up something delicious in no time at all! That said the only Korean meal I have made was beef bulgogi and that was also delicious.

The traffic for us is horrendous too but not in a English/Welsh capacity way; after being in lockdown for 100 days every man and his dog is on the road. Me I stay home unless I am grocery shopping. I can't handle the crowds it makes me jittery.

  11. That's something I miss terribly: international foods. Washington DC was a wonderful area for that. I love Korean food. Bibimbap was a special favorite. Sorry about the tickets, but Korean food??? I am so envious.

  12. I was once given a Parking Ticket in Chester. I had parked opposite a 'Dive Shop' (to collect some belt weights) for a matter of seconds only to find a £50 fine on the windscreen. I wrote an expletive filled letter to accompany my cheque, and have never been back there again!!!

  13. My local towns are a nightmare for parking and I avoid them as much as I can. Was happy to catch buses, but while Covid is a problem I am simply not going out much except walking. Hopefully it will improve after Christmas in Chester.
The food was a good idea to save the day and looks delicious.

  14. We’ve had a couple of trips into Málaga when parking was almost non-existent. We lucked out both times with an opening in a garage, but we also thought we’d just have to turn right back around and go home. Glad it was a cheap ticket.

In Australia, to luck out has a negative meaning, to miss out on something.

  16. The Park and Ride near the turn off from the A55 is handy at this time of year so maybe you can give that a try?

  17. The food looks delicious and parking is terrible everywhere isn't it, mind you I guess the weather isn't helping.
