Chatsworth

It’s time I return to one of my favourite places
Chatsworth House in Derbyshire
I was only thinking the other day about when I last visited this grand old house and it must be almost sixteen years ago now.
When I lived in Sheffield, only 14 miles away to the North East, Chatsworth was a favourite destination on a weekend, whether it was for an amble through the house and gardens. A visit to the famous shop, which was located in the old shire horse stables out on the estate, or just to walk by the river below the garden terraces.
In a fit of nostalgia I’ve arranged to meet an old friend from Sheffield there in December
It’s a four hour round trip for me , but it will be worth going even if it is for just the day
To say hello again to The Veiled Vestal by Monti will be a highlight

It will be like saying “So you’re here again” to an old friend.

Off sick again
Blood tests and investigations
More antibiotics
Hey ho

What a beautiful home and amazing Veiled Vestal and how marvelous that it was so close by during your time in Sheffield. Better yet is your plan to return in December in the company of a good friend. Just thinking about it is a good way to pass the (hopefully) quiet hours on night shift.

    Hugs!

An inspiring place, and a perfect time of year to revisit. Some wonderful things there to see and the perfect way to recharge the batteries after illness. The journey will be grounding too. Have a good day. X

  3. I was hoping to visit Chatsworth when Covid struck. I look forward to your photos very much. Will they have their Christmas decorations up? So envious!

    2. John, hope you are soon feeling better. I am not sure whether you are open to distance Healing (I am a Reiki Master); if you do let me know. Will not do without your permission as not everyone is open to this and I would not want to contravene any personal belief systems.

With regard to Chatsworth, we recently ordered some Devonshire Gold cheese via Hartington Dairies online. This cheese is very different and very moorish and it was created for Chatsworth House. Can I recommend you hit the farm shop when at Chatsworth just to try a little.

Hugs and take care as usual. Sending you good thoughts in any event.

    4. Will send you some healing later this evening John when it is quieter. Just a word of warning, any healing can make the recipient very sleepy. Please be mindful of this and please also drink lots of plain water, it is bland but effective xx hugs xx

  5. I'm ashamed to say I've never visited Chatsworth House. Do you have to book because of Covid? The veiled Vestal is beautifully ethereal. The grounds will look amazing in December, especially if there's a frost. Magical. xx

  9. Sorry to hear it, John [that you are off sick again]. My mother instilled in me, and I - in turn - on my son, that you can't hurry recovery. Easy does it.

More tests? Tests are good if unnerving. The true test is how we live with the fallout. Says the laywoman to the nurse.

    All the best,
    U

  10. I love Chatsworth too. The Devonshires are good people as well. That sculpture is drapery carving at its best - trickery!

  15. The first time I saw her I was transfixed, and even now, dozens of times later, I still have trouble believing that she is, in fact, such a hard material.
I'm not a believer in anything much, but looking at her, I think perhaps Monti's hands were guided by a higher power, she's just so beautiful!
I hope you're feeling a tad better this afternoon! X

So sorry you weren't listened to when the too-short dose was prescribed. Hope the tests illuminate what is amiss so you can get the proper tx and meds. quickly and feel back to your wonderful, jovial (and other lovely adjectives) self soonest.

    Hugs!

  25. Here in Queensland the government provided free vitamin C tablets with the first years of antibiotics, doctor Lady Cilento continued this many years after the state stopped for financial reasons.
Anything that helps meds be more effective worth a try.

  26. Late to the party as usual. I hope you are feeling much better now the antibiotics are kicking in. That sculpture is unreal. So beautiful and that is coming from someone who is not the least arty in any way.
