Sunday mornings, I have found, can be the most Lonely part of the week.
Luckily, when I’m not rostered to work, I have got into the habit of buying a quality newspaper and treating myself to a proper breakfast and bucket of coffee at y shed, where I can pretend I’m in a trendy corner of Manhattan
For the sake of my sanity, the dogs are now always left in Bluebell , especially as only last week Dorothy rubbed her arse too excitedly against the table leg and upset my illy coffee over the floor .
I’ve just carved my pumpkin ready for its candles but won’t be home later as I’m off to the theatre with friends tonight.
At least Covid has put pay to trick and treating
How can you be lonely with dogs?
ReplyDeleteJust a little on Sunday mornings….it’s an observation Dave not a complaint
DeletePlenty of trick or treating in Belfast. I guess they think that one minute at someone's front door is unlikely to cause an infection.
ReplyDeleteAnd they sanitise the treats
DeleteTrick or treating looks like its going ahead here too. I We take it quite seriously,- a box of Halloween candy to hand out - a box of Halloween candy for us! Both boxes carefully chosen so we have our favourite bars to munch on.
ReplyDeleteI like the pumpkin.
ReplyDelete😱
DeleteI hate trick or treat. Let's send our kids out to knock on stranger's doors and ask for sweets!???
ReplyDeleteIt was unheard of when I was a child. Halloween wasn't a thing then, but bonfire night - oh, yes! I used to love seeing all the bonfires, across the field at the back of our house. Treacle toffee, Parkin and potatoes baked in the embers. Yum. xx
Bonfire night seems a thing of the past …
DeleteMy daughter lives in Runcorn and they have started letting off fireworks , she was complaining earlier .
DeleteGreat pumpkin! Will you make the gooey pumpkin interior into a pie or toast the pumpkin seeds?
ReplyDeleteNo kids in our neighborhood and the houses are set too far back from the street for parents to be comfortable so we don't even buy Halloween candy. Sigh.
Enjoy the theater and the friends!
Hugs!
The centre I’ve left out for the church cockeral to eat
DeleteI'm sure the church cockeral appreciated your generosity and perhaps next year pumpkins will sprout in the churchyard?!
DeleteHugs!
You pumpkin is looking good. Dorothy seems to stir things up wherever she goes. Just like my Caesar. This morning he chewed one of my pumpkins. The one remaining is now out of his reach.
ReplyDeleteShe’s overactive and hates when I stop to talk or to sit at a cafe
DeleteA most excellent pumpkin! Good for you for getting out of the house tonight. We're just hiding in the back room with the lights off!
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween! We still have trick-or-treaters here so I have my candy ready!
ReplyDeleteNo Sunday morning lie-ins with a partner for you sad sir! That ship has sailed
ReplyDeleteGet used to it.
anon bully-You are clearly very unhappy and bitter
DeleteOh dear I missed this one...I'm not bothered by it flis xxx
DeleteShe sells sea shells on the seashore x
DeleteSomeone came up with the brilliant idea of leaving an empty bowl on the doorstep with a sign saying 'help yourself'.
ReplyDeletei love your JOL! i like the old fashioned kind like yours and not the super fancy ones. i've just carved 6 and i have 250 treat bags made up and i bet i run out of them in an hour. trick or treating is from 5-7 here tonight and i can't wait.
ReplyDeleteHappy Hallows dear friend. Sunday's are usually my favorite day....as it's just me and Buster...i need the quiet and love my a full breakfast. I adore your pumpkin 🎃
ReplyDeleteWe used to avoid having to open the door to 'orrible kids threatening to spray bleach on the shrubs or slash the car tyres by closing the curtains, keeping the lights low and giving the impression we were out. Not having that this year is the only benefit of the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteI see Y-shed hosts an intriguing place called "Grumble Studios" - sounds like a place I could give a long piece of performance art sharing all my grumbles. Maybe we could make it a double act (but I have probably misunderstood what it is)
ReplyDeleteIt's a little museum and art centre and cafe and buisness centre too Andrew..not bad for a tiny building
DeleteMy top dog made a show of himself at a lovely tea garden at Cerne Abbas-as the lovely smiley waitress carried the cream tea including doggy treats on a tray towards us he went mad-embarrassed we hurried our delights and sneaked away x
ReplyDeleteIs that your Jack o Lantern. Very cute. You could llight it w a fake candle or a flashlight? Trick or Treating is so fun!---you don't like it?
ReplyDeleteYes see the lit one
DeleteHappy Halloween. My Birthday is tomorrow. 60 years young.
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent Jack-o-Lantern! I love the way they glow with the candles. Enjoy the theatre tonight!
ReplyDeleteTrick or treating all cancelled here still in lockdown. But some people have put buckets of lollies by the front gate for the kids to help themselves to. Personally these days I am not a fan. Love the lantern! I find it hard to cut pumpkin at the best of times so carving one would be a no no for me despite me loving the look. Hope your theatre trip goes well.

I have fond memories of Trick or Treat. I don't want to see it end even if I have not passed out candy in years.
