I took my sister Janet to the cinema tonight, it was her first time back to the cinema for two years!
Nice to have some sister time
The last Daniel Craig Bond No Time To Die, has everything but the kitchen sink thrown at it. Craig’s swan song has homages, visual, spoken and musical , from all of the Bond movies, but especially from the least favourite but most romantic of the series, the one with George Lazenby, whose title I have strangely forgotten and it works well, even though it’s a little too long .
I like Craig in it, who had a chance to act as well as shoot his cuffs, and gurn his lips
I love the playful way that the replacement 007 was a black woman and not Iris Elber
I liked the sassy Lashana Lynch as the “new” 007 ( in this movie Bond has retired)and I liked the script which you could just tell had the bite of Phoebe Waller Bridge flowing all through it
Paloma Bond Girl
I also liked Ana deArmas who almost stole the show as a ditzy but rather capable Cuban Bond girl called Paloma
Big, showy, overly talky ,and too love story ish, it isn’t the best Bond, but it’s a suiting tribute to the Craig Years in the role which made Ben Whishaw, Naomi Harris, Jeffrey Wright and Judi Dench such wonderful parts of the franchise.
The very sexy Jeffrey Wright as Felix
I still have not seen it but I hope to. I like the Bond movies purely for the entertainment value and the fact that I have watched every one since I was a kid. Thanks for your review!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good watch bonnie
Deletei have never seen one james bond movie.
ReplyDeleteGo and see this one
DeleteI was stunned and sad at the ending. I loved Palomar too and have liked all the others you mentioned, especially Ben Winshaw.
ReplyDeleteI like that he was making dinner for his new boyfriend in the film
DeleteThe title you forgot is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," and yes for all intents and purposes it is the one film in the franchise that comes closest to being considered "a chick flick." On the other hand it does have Louis Armstrong performance of "All The Time in the World."
ReplyDeleteDon't know when I will get to see the last Craig film....
That song is the main musical theme of the latest movie
DeleteOHMSS, despite Lazenby's presence, is also the Bond film which follows Fleming's novel closer than any other film of the series - and for me that is a major 'plus', another being (though it hardly needs saying) is its featuring of the monumentally luminous and perfectly cast Ms Rigg.
DeleteYes, she was quite lovely in the role
DeleteI'm supposed to see it next week.
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think
DeleteAh, but IMHO there is/was no one better as Mr. Bond than Sir Sean Connery.
ReplyDeleteHugs!
I rather think Craig was better
DeleteI really appreciate your professional approach. These are pieces of very useful information that will be of great use for me in future.

Never been a Bond fan, so not one I'll be seeing any time soon (or at all)! But a bit of escapism, however you take it, is always good. xx
ReplyDeleteIt's not misogynistic like it used to be too
DeleteSounds fun and I enjoyed your review. I'm not a great Bond fan although I liked the Sean Connery ones.
ReplyDeleteI liked The Queen and her Corgis featuring and Her Majesty parachuting x
ReplyDeleteOn drugs again?
DeleteCorgis possibly for mishaps-never Mam-if referring to moi-no the building is long gone with filing cabinets x
DeleteTwenty minutes too long, totally forgettable Billie Eilish theme song, and as you say the Pheobe input is very recognisable and much needed. Onwards and upwards to a new and better Bond than Daniel Craig. Felix is supposed to be tall lean and blond, Btw!Hope Janet had a good time, the first time back in a cinema feels very strange, re-establishing a social skill you do not realise you had, never mind forgotten!
ReplyDeleteWith you on the totally non-descript theme song - it could have been for almost anything - as they nearly all have been since Madonna's hopelessly weak effort for 'Die Another Day' way back in 2002.
DeleteI think it'd be a tough call to find a 'better' Bond than Craig or. for me, even one to be as good.
In Felix Leiter's various incarnations over the series none of them has been anything like the one envisaged by Fleming, though I've managed to accept all of them in turn, even if some have been harder to take than others.
Also with you on the 'too long' comment - though I'd more than double your '20 mins'.
Yes the general consensus is that it was overlong
DeleteI love that you post daily, but man it's hard keeping up with you sometimes! (Says she who posts daily herself and occasionally even twice.)
ReplyDeleteDaniel Craig may be a good actor -- I can't claim to be a knowledgeable judge of that -- but I don't understand how a man so homely was chosen for the part of Bond, who was always handsome (on the outside at least. I know, I know: everyone's tastes in beauty are different; I've never thought Lady Di was pretty, or Jennifer Aniston either, when everyone else seems to find them gorgeous. Which, perhaps, on the inside they are. Perhaps Craig has an agent with a lot of clout).
It must be such a challenge to come away from work all beaten-up. I'm sorry that's happening to you.
And glad you have a sister to spend time with. Nothing much could be better. I have two younger ones and they are among my nearest and dearest friends; with them I am most myself.
