Taskmaster

Another day another tv programme review.
That’s how simple my life is today.
After all the detailed and oh so useful psychological reflection session at work, coming home on Wednesday  to an empty house is still hard after a challenging shift.
What we all need at these times is someone else to run a bath for you and to kiss the top of your head as you soak away the days stress in bubbles you’d never sort out for yourself
Hey ho..I’m not complaining …I’m just saying
Anyhow,
Second best is a large gin and some nice tv.
The day before yesterday it was the great Royal documentary
Last night Taskmaster was back like an old friend returning home.

Silly, funny, entertaining , and clever, this quiz show has been aired since 2015
I love Alex Horne and adore Welsh born Greg Davies so the addition of my favourite Victoria Coren Mitchell is a real bonus in this series 12..and so is the rather sexy Gus Khan with his smile and lovely beard

Have a look at it if u can it’s on channel 4 Thursday nights 9 pm
I’m back at work all day today and tomorrow ….thank you to Trendy Carol again for taking the girls
I couldn’t cope without her and her hubby’s help.

I will leave you with a pic of a slumbering Dorothy with Sunflowers last night
Welcome to my world x

  3. Dorothy certainly fell on her feet when she found you!
Victoria is great; I really enjoy listening to her husband, David's dry wit, too - especially paired with Lee Mack in Would I Lie to You.

I guess I've gone very wrong somewhere too!
Never had a bath run for me although I ran one often for my partner. Only now I'm alone in my old age do I realise what a pampered and selfish person I doted on for all those years.

  8. Welcome to my world
    Won't you come on in?
    Miracles, I guess
    Still happen now and then

But I won't be watching "Taskmaster" any time soon. I have seen short previews and it seems annoyingly silly to me.

  9. is anyone as comfortable in their own homes more than our pets? when my pups have to go anywhere, they wrap themselves in the house when they return.

  10. There is a lot to be enjoyed in a simple life and there is no reason to fight against it. It can be a good life.

  11. If she could, Dorothy would draw that hot bubble bath and say, help you decompress. A friend of mine loves Taskmaster, it never really clicked for me. I understand Netflix is going to be showing the current season of Bake Off/Great British Baking Show on about a one week delay, in the past we had months delay waiting for public broadcasting to pick it up. The show is retitled in the USA, a flour company owns the trademark on "bake off" and won't let them use it.

  12. Aww, Dorothy! I've never watched "Taskmaster" but I still chuckle about that advert they had years ago demanding that a contestant hide a whole pineapple somewhere on their body.

  14. There was a particularly harrowing experience at work. The next day, a colleague and I were rehashing the experience. I had gone home, crying that there was no one to offer support. She had gone home crying that she had to tend to her husband when she just wanted to be alone. We were each crying for what the other had. HMMM.

Love the picture of sweet Dorothy, secure in her own surroundings and with her very only family, including her anchor in this uncertain world, you, John.
I've never heard of Taskmaster but it sounds worth a go if I can find it.
Since I retired, my life is very simple, too, and that's okay by me. In fact, since covid, (as I read recently) our wheelie bin has gone out more than I have!

    Hugs!

Does anyone else think that actor Alan Davies and Greg Davies look a lot alike?

  16. It can be good to come home to only the loving dogs. The waiting spouse is far more likely to be pissy and annoyed: where is his dinner!? clean up the dog pee? dog walking is NOT his job. His favorite gin or wine or beer is not in fridge--and you forgot to bring more. The bedsheets needed changing, just LOOK! You're useless. No bath for you, let alone sappy kisses on your balding grey head.

    Silver linings: solitude.
