This afternoon the girls and I drove to the mouthful which is the village Abergwyngregyn and walked up to Aber Falls.
The girls were buggered when we got back to the car
Tonight, instead of the cinema , I’ve treated myself to cheese and crackers and I’m going to live stream “An Evening With Miriam Margolyes “ from the Alexandra Palace
I do hope she’s foul mouthed
Why wouldn't she be foul mouthed, I love her as well.
ReplyDeleteI’d be disappointed if she wasn’t
DeleteBig fan here of both her and waterfalls. She's astute and very, very funny.
ReplyDeleteA national treasure of the uk and Australia
DeleteI think this is a rather sweeping statement John. Up until 18 months ago I had never heard of her!
Delete
DeleteNot a sweeping statement Rachel , she was referred in the talk tonight several times as a National Treasure
Perhaps you are more East Country girl than you think
Margolyes has been a celebrated and well known broad spectrum character actress since the 1980s
Yes, I am sure she has but there are still many who don't know her. I was not knocking you or attacking you for calling her that. It's a bit like treading on eggshells here sometimes. It was just a fact that struck me that I can think of many who will never have heard of her. I didn't go to films for years or theatre and so I never came across her. That's all so for me a national treasure she is not.
DeleteI didn’t think you were attacking me, nor am I upset in any way I’m just addressing your comment , like you often do, directly …
DeleteI’m surprised as a cinema goer , that you’ve never really known her…
Please don’t go down the walking on eggshells route
DeleteI’m just disagreeing with you , like you often do to me
Oh you are very touchy tonight. You must have missed the exclamation mark in my first comment. I only started going to the cinema in 2018 after 30 years of not seeing a film.
DeleteNope , I am so not.you are wrong
DeleteI am not privy to the fact you only went to the cinema in 2018
DeleteGiven your present attendance which is pretty regular
I retired and at the same time became single, coincidentally, and so I commenced going to films which I had never been able to do before in the relationship I was in. Nor watch films at home either. I now do both, cinema and films at home because I love them.
DeleteWell look her work up , if u have a chance
DeleteIt’s sporadic but always memorable
I saw her in one of those retirement shows made for tv where a few elderly went to India. She was ok. That was the first time I had ever seen her. I think it is the only time.
DeleteYes it’s her most famous documentary but I was more moved by her on a road trip she made through the Deep South of America
DeleteHer interactions wit ph staunch trump supporters….never mocking or disrespectful
I'll look that one up and see if it is still available. Thanks.
DeleteI still wouldn't call her a national treasure in the accepted understanding of the term though.
DeleteLol, ……well let’s agree to differ
DeleteOooh, I didn't know about the live stream. Thanks for telling us. I've got her new book arriving today. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI. Thought it would be different
DeleteI just saw her now on YouTube. She's great.
ReplyDeleteShe plays to shock…
DeleteI visited Aber Falls summer '19. Beautiful - but was like a pedestrian motorway from the car park and around the falls. Miriam Margolyes: "I like men, I just don't feel groin excitement" (guffaw!).
ReplyDeleteIt was busy today but not overly so
DeleteShe's on in London tonight.
ReplyDeleteYou are right it’s from Alexandra palace , you can see a night recorded from the bath pavilion on line too
DeleteShe usually is! xx
ReplyDeleteAber Falls look beautiful. Enjoy Miriam.
ReplyDeleteSo far she is uncharacteristically subdued
DeleteWasn't Miriam Margolyes lovely when meeting the elderly tribes ladies-even though from entirely different worlds they connected and laughed together x
ReplyDeleteI think I would find her difficult in real life , but the good would always outweigh the bad x
DeleteThe water fall is just lovely and I can imagine the cool spray from it. Is it an easy walk to get to it?
ReplyDeleteLove Miriam Margolyes and have enjoyed her performances in many movies and shows. Have a hanky nearby in case you laugh yourself into tears!
Hugs!
She is more interesting and at times moving than her usual shocking
DeleteSimon callow who was interviewing her came over rather charmingly too
DeleteOh, I liked Miriam on Call the Midwives and saw a clip of her on a talk show once. She was so funny! That sounds like a fun evening for you.
ReplyDeleteThose falls are lovely. Good exercise for all! xx
I’ve never seen the programme , but I loved her documentaries of latter years in India and the US
DeleteMiriam has docos about her jaunts around Australia too, always entertaining.
DeleteI always judge potential friends on whether or not I can say "fuck" in front of them. I am extremely foul-mouthed and I am not ashamed.
ReplyDeleteMM calls it like she sees it and holds nothing back. YouTube has a few clips too. The falls is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteNice falls, if I were the village I think I would adopt a nickname
