Aber Falls and Miriam

This afternoon the girls and I drove to the mouthful which is the village Abergwyngregyn and walked up to Aber Falls.

The girls were buggered when we got back to the car

Tonight, instead of the cinema , I’ve treated myself to cheese and crackers and I’m going to live stream “An Evening With Miriam Margolyes “ from the Alexandra Palace

I do hope she’s foul mouthed

    2. I think this is a rather sweeping statement John. Up until 18 months ago I had never heard of her!

    3. Not a sweeping statement Rachel , she was referred in the talk tonight several times as a National Treasure
Perhaps you are more East Country girl than you think
Margolyes has been a celebrated and well known broad spectrum character actress since the 1980s

    4. Yes, I am sure she has but there are still many who don't know her. I was not knocking you or attacking you for calling her that. It's a bit like treading on eggshells here sometimes. It was just a fact that struck me that I can think of many who will never have heard of her. I didn't go to films for years or theatre and so I never came across her. That's all so for me a national treasure she is not.

    5. I didn’t think you were attacking me, nor am I upset in any way I’m just addressing your comment , like you often do, directly …
I’m surprised as a cinema goer , that you’ve never really known her…

    6. Please don’t go down the walking on eggshells route
I’m just disagreeing with you , like you often do to me

    7. Oh you are very touchy tonight. You must have missed the exclamation mark in my first comment. I only started going to the cinema in 2018 after 30 years of not seeing a film.

    9. I am not privy to the fact you only went to the cinema in 2018
Given your present attendance which is pretty regular

    10. I retired and at the same time became single, coincidentally, and so I commenced going to films which I had never been able to do before in the relationship I was in. Nor watch films at home either. I now do both, cinema and films at home because I love them.

    12. I saw her in one of those retirement shows made for tv where a few elderly went to India. She was ok. That was the first time I had ever seen her. I think it is the only time.

    13. Yes it’s her most famous documentary but I was more moved by her on a road trip she made through the Deep South of America
Her interactions wit ph staunch trump supporters….never mocking or disrespectful

    14. I'll look that one up and see if it is still available. Thanks.

    15. I still wouldn't call her a national treasure in the accepted understanding of the term though.

  5. I visited Aber Falls summer '19. Beautiful - but was like a pedestrian motorway from the car park and around the falls. Miriam Margolyes: "I like men, I just don't feel groin excitement" (guffaw!).

The water fall is just lovely and I can imagine the cool spray from it. Is it an easy walk to get to it?
Love Miriam Margolyes and have enjoyed her performances in many movies and shows. Have a hanky nearby in case you laugh yourself into tears!

    Hugs!

  11. I always judge potential friends on whether or not I can say "fuck" in front of them. I am extremely foul-mouthed and I am not ashamed.

  12. MM calls it like she sees it and holds nothing back. YouTube has a few clips too. The falls is beautiful.
